South Africa have got everything, a solid batting lineup, a great pace attack and a wonderful spin combination. But all that seems to go into vain due to their inability to handle pressure situation as has been evidenced by many close encounter losses against Pakistan, India and England.

I have this feeling we won't be seeing them in the QF's.
Its generally tough for the Proteas to bounce back especially after they have choked in a prior encounter.

The bowling seems to be holding up, it is the batting which seems to falter. Once you get past JP the lineup becomes very suspect.

Nah, they will definitely be there in QFs. They might not make it past that though especially if they have to face Australia or Sri Lanka. Pakistan have historically struggled against SAF in ODIs.

Any team can lose on the day. And to those of you who say we choke in all close situations - does nobody remember the 438 game. You can't get better than that.

We will get to the QF's and further (touching wood right now).

With you on that, it was good that South Africa got a good tight game so early in the competition, itll keep em focused from now onwards.

Go Zulu !!!

Absolutely! South Africa always seems to breeze through the group stages only to stumble at the first real game that actually matters. This time it's slightly different - maybe it's an omen (standing on one leg while touching wood).

That's probably the best news India could've received prior to the match against the Proteas. :D

Geez it's all falling apart for SA atm. Tahir has been an important factor in their bowling lineup, hes really taken their attack to that next level.

Thats a shame, it would have really been interesting to see how he would have fared against India. But good for them he is not out of the tournament.

Tahir not playing is good news for India. India have had problems with Mendis when he is relatively new to the scene, and spectacularly collapsed to him. Tahir might be as mysterious as Mendis was, but he is rated as highly as Mendis was rated back then. But if SA reach the final stages and Tahir is fit, he could play a crucial part for them. Also if India happen to meet SA in the semis or final and Tahir is fit, we might be in a problem. So I wish Tahir plays the game against us on Saturday itself.

Seriously how on earth did Van Wyk get picked as keeper?!?!? 65 runs in five innings doesn't sound so bad, but 42 of those were against Oirland. Against the Test nations he's scored 13, 5 and now 5 again.

Can they not do like in 'Escape to Victory', break his arm or something and call up a reserve keeper? Or give gloves to De Villiers?

van Wyk is a back-foot opener. It's too much of an ask for him to come in at 7 and dominate spin in these conditions. He should bat in the top 3 or not at all. He might be fine there if SA face Aus or NZ.
