New Zealand look flat in the field. I am not convinced by Southee's ability to lead here. I just feel that he got himself a deal in the aftermath of the Trent Boult episode. Never before have I seen a Kiwi side give up on Day 1 of a homes test.

Reckon they should just give the Test captaincy to Tom Latham?

Does anyone know if Daryl Mitchell has any experience of captaining a team? He seems like a good leader and I love his aggression on the field. Perhaps the kind of change NZ need?

Southee’s obviously just there because they didn’t want him leaving. Latham is someone I’d back under new management but not the current one.

Latham did a stellar job last year. He has led in Kane's absence and ought to have been their first choice if not for politics.

I still can't even process how that tail scored enough runs to put New Zealand in trouble. Like I knew it was a bad tail, but hadn't fully processed how bad until I looked into it.

He’s such a weird pacer. Bowls mid 130s trash in the first innings and then cranks it up to 150 kph in the second out of nowhere. Almost reminds me of second innings Shami.
