June, 2017
The first ever June where nobody goes home
June 2017 caps off the first ever June where nobody will be eliminated, with the two year elimination period now in play. The competition is also getting very interesting too now, with a separate race at the top remaining incredibly fierce while the bottom two are also fighting for their lives. And in the middle, sits Hedger.
It was a good year though for
Mattfb, who dearly needed to push out of last place and managed to after a good season. He also finally made his debut for Italy, and he performed solidly in his two international games, conceding just the one goal.
Nakul however was not so fortunate and remained uncapped, and despite another reasonable season at Valladolid he was overtaken by Mattfb and now it is Nakul on the bottom rung of the ladder. He only has this year to get himself out of last, or else he will be eliminated.
Meanwhile, Mattfb has announced himself unhappy at Everton. He has stated that he wants to move on to a bigger club to fulfill his dream of being a world-class keeper, and with Everton only in higher mid-table of the Premier League they are nowhere near the Champions League, which is ideally where Matt would prefer to be performing. However, Everton boss Keith Alexander has told him that he will not be allowed to leave Goodison Park as he remains vital to Everton's hopes. It will be very interesting to see what comes from that - and whether Matt can resolve his dislike of Everton or not.
The battle between
Shantanu Rooney and
Ollie Holden saw the pair both crack the 2000 points mark. However, the margin between the two was kept virtually the same. Ollie played more matches, but Shantanu won more MOTM awards, and the point gap evened itself out. It looks set to be a thrilling fight between that pair - one which may be decided by which player ends up declining first with age. Right now, the players are just 24 but later on in the challenge there might be a few more problems. Shantanu Rooney has also put pen to paper on a new five year deal with Real Madrid, allegedly worth somewhere around the region of $86M. He has sealed his fate there for a long time now, but it seems he is happy enough to stay, and with him banging in the goals Madrid are more than happy to keep him.
Let's take an in-depth review.
Mattfb (GK, Italy)
Club: Everton
League: English Premier League
Player Profile
With Matt unsettled at Everton, it remains interesting to whether he will stay or go. However, his contract binds him until June 2019 so unless Everton decide to transfer him it seems that he will be staying. He had a fairly average season with Everton, conceding 56 goals from 35 matches but at least he is remaining part of their first-team. However, the lack of European matches is costing him now as Ollie and Shantanu move ahead due to their plights in the Champions League. Matt has moved ahead of Nakul but when the time comes to catch Hedger it seems that he might need some serious good fortune.

Nakul (ST, Spain)
Club: Valladolid
League: Liga BBVA
Player Profile
Again Valladolid avoided relegation, but Nakul has moved into last season following an unimpressive season which saw him still fail to make his senior debut for Spain. Every other player has been capped at national level for their country except him, and it is starting to cost him badly. He is going to need a really big season now to get back into this game, or it might just be all over for him. Can he make his comeback and thwart Matt? Or will he be the next to go in June, 2018. It's going to be an interesting season for Nakul, and one that he will require a fair bit of good fortune in.

Hedger (ST, Sweden)
Club: Juventus
League: Serie A
Player Profile
Hedger has now fallen right into the middle after taking the leadership for the longest plight of anyone in this game. He is still on target to become Sweden's all time leading goalscorer, and he now has 28 goals from 37 international matches, but he really isn't playing as much at Juventus as he would like. He racked up 36 matches and scored 18 goals this year, but when the top two are regularly playing 50+ a year it isn't going to be easy for him to make a charge. That said, he is well clear of the bottom two and should remain safe for quite some time, which should give him long enough to try and mount a comeback. Will Hedger ever be a force again in this challenge? Hedger was also the only player not to feature in the starting Best XI for the year of 2015/16 for his club, although he shouldn't be worrying about that a great deal.

Ollie H (MC, England)
Club: Manchester City
League: English Premier League
Player Profile
Ollie played a massive 55 games this season as well as plenty for England, but he still frustratingly didn't gain at all on Shantanu Rooney who held on to his lead. Still, it was a fantastic year for Ollie who featured heavily with his club and had a wonderful season in the Premier League. He was also shortlisted for the 2016 World Footballer of the Year but failed to finish in the top 3, with the award taken out by Lionel Messi, with Cristiano Ronaldo and Sergio Agero trailing behind him. Still, he was named in the midfield for the Champions League Dream Team and remains a household name in England now. The battle at the top will continue though - but who will hold their nerve, and who will crack?

Shantanu Rooney (ST, England)
Club: R. Madrid
League: Liga BBVA
Player Profile
Yet another fantastic season for dream striker Shantanu Rooney, as he carved up La Liga defences far and wide, scoring 36 goals from 49 starts in all official matches. He has recently put pen to paper on a 5 year deal with Real Madrid and won't be moving anywhere anytime soon. He is a cult hero and an official icon of Real Madrid. He has scored over 150 goals for Real Madrid in his career and it seems that he will score many more with his new deal. Just how good is this guy?

Treva Update:
Treva continues to lay down the law at Chelsea and Russia. He has already put four Premier League strikers in hospital after some violent tackles and he doesn't back down from anything. He is powerfully built and is a fantastic defender. It was another great year for Treva as he played in 53 matches for Chelsea, and he also took his international cap tally to 37 following some excellent performances for Russia. Over his career he has made a total of 309 appearances for Chelsea, Russia, Villareal and Metalist and, although he has never scored a league or international goal he did manage to score one in a cup match back in 2015 for Chelsea, following a wonderful strike which led some to believe he should be starting up front. What a player he is, although what horrible circumstances he suffered in the FM Elimination Challenge.
