17306380850.jpg

David Gower: Hello and welcome to day four of this second npower test match where the West Indies are looking good in their second innings. To take you through this mornign session of play are Sir Ian Botham and Nasser Hussain.

Sir Ian Botham: Thanks David and welcome everyone to this fourth day where the West Indies will look to build an even bigger lead in this match and really challenge England so far they have done that with Wavell Hinds and Brian Lara at the crease. We will see what will develop in this session and i am sure it will be fascinating to watch.

Two overs pass with 2 runs being scored. It is 91/1 and Panesar is about to bowl to Hinds in the 49th over.

Nasser Hussain: Here we go then Monty Panesar to bowl and Wavell Hinds is on strike. Just a boundary away from his half century then and Panesar bowls and that is huge! Hinds plays a massive shot and keeps goign and going for a maximum and Hinds has his first half century of the series and it is well deserved. Congratulations Wavell Hinds.

21817544393.jpg

Sir Ian Botham: Also that is the 50 partnership up for Wavell Hinds and Brian Lara and they are looking very comfortable against the England attack. That was a fine shot from Wavell Hinds. This partnership needs to be broken by England.

21817544315.jpg

Nasser Hussain: Right Monty back to his mark and Wavell Hinds looking to attack here. Monty flights that one up and he has bowled him! Fine comeback from Monty Panesar and Wavell Hinds must go for 52. Great innings but he will be disappointed that he didn't go on. The West Indies are 98/2.

21817544412.jpg

Sir Ian Botham: The new man for the West Indies is Shiv Chanderpaul who played a good innings earlier in this match but can he do it again? England still have a lot of hard work in front of them that is for sure.

21817544322.jpg

12 overs pass with Brian Lara and Shiv Chanderpaul content to nick singles and take two's and three's they are just looking to develop a partnership before attacking again. Simon Jones is brought into the attack in the 62nd over with the score 110/2.

Nasser Hussain: Right Simon Jones into the attack then and he needs to be accurate here as he was expensive last night. He will bowl to Brian Lara. That is four. Lara connects with a cover drive and he is now 22 not out. Jones needs to bowl tight and put pressure on Lara.

The next over is bowled by Flintoff and the Windies score two more. Jones is to conitnue to bowl.

Sir Ian Botham: Right Jones to continue and Brian Lara on strike again. Running in and that is wide and short and Lara punishes Jones with a square drive timed to perfection which races away to the boundary. Lara is now looking very confident and very dangerous England need his wicket and they need it fast.

Another three overs pass and Jones is replaced in the attack by Steve Harmison. It is now 128/2 and Lara is on strike again.

Nasser Hussain: The big man from Durham, Steve Harmison is into the attack now then. Michael Vaughan will be hoping that the big man can do a better job than Simon Jones. Runs in then and that is short and wide and Lara whacks it through point for a boundary with another great square drive. Harmison does not look happy and he walks back to his marl. Running in again and that is a good line but Lara is in and goes for it and plays a beautiful cover drive past the cover fielders for another boundary to move into the 40's.

Andrew Flintoff bowls the 69th over and it is a maiden leaving the score 138/2. Panesar is quickly into the attack to stop the runs. Lara is on strike.

Sir Ian Botham: Right Michael Vaughan has turned to Monty Panesar to bowl tightly and not give away to many runs. Lara is on strike though and approaching his half century. Panesar in then and that is huge! What a slog sweep from Brian Lara that was an unbelievable shot it clears the rope and is ten rows back for a six! Panesar won't like that but that was the shot of a masteful man and Brian Lara is proving he is an amzing batsman here.

Flintoff bowls another maiden and is proving to be a star for England here. Panesar to bowl again.

Nasser Hussain: Right Monty Panesar is in again then and this time hopefully he won't concede massive runs and hopefully he will restrict Brain Lara who is now a sniff away form a fifty. Panesar in then and that is another massive one. That is down the ground and it is twent rows back for another maximum and Brian Lara has his 50!

21817544357.jpg

Sir Ian Botham: And that is also the fifty partnership between Brian Lara and Shivnarine Chanderpaul. Chanderpaul has only contributed 5 runs to the entire partnership so can we really call it a partnership?

21817544387.jpg

Nasser Hussain: Right that is the end of the over and Freddie Flintoff is now set to continue. Lara on strike again and that will be four! Slower ball and it is picked early and driven through the covers for a crisp boundary great shot.

The last over is bowled by Panesar and one run is scored. That is the end of the session.

Sir Ian Botham: Right so the story of the West Indies batting is they are going well and causing England a problem here. Lara is on 61 not out and will be aiaming for a century and Hinds has scored a half century. Chanderpaul is struggling but he is 5 not out. Overall the West Indies will be very happy with their effort this morning.

21817544454.jpg

Nasser Hussain: As for the England bowlers Panesar now has both wickets but in that session the man who bowled really well was Freddie Flintoff. Jones and Harmison were expensive and Vaughan had to get them out of the attack quickly.

21817544397.jpg

Sir Ian Botham: Join us after the break for analysis of the session and Michael Atherton names his young guns team.

Hoggard economical. Pick of the bowlers for me. Chanderpaul :eek !! Yes it's a test match but that slow. Anyways great presentation DX.

Great pres DX! But i think Chanderpaul is just toooooooooooooooooo slooooooooooooooow - i mean 5 off 72 balls! He must be a master at defensive strokes by now! Lets see more of the same! KUTGW!

Great pres DX! But i think Chanderpaul is just toooooooooooooooooo slooooooooooooooow

I guess, the entire Windies approach has gone into too much defensive tactics. ;) Anyways, as per the wicket column and runs, Windies are in good position. Hope they don't play their favourite collapse game :p

Nice presentation.:)

The poll has been removed by request :)

England vs. West Indies: 2nd Test, Day Four, Afternoon Session LIVE!

17306380850.jpg

David Gower: Hello and welcome back to Lord's and we are about ready to begin the afternoon session of play and the West Indies are 157/2. At the crease are Brian Lara and Shiv Chanderpaul and to take you through the session are Michael Atherton and Michael Holding.

The first two overs are bowled by Hoggard and Panesar and they manage a maiden each to keep the score at 157/2. Hoggard is to bowl the 77th over to Lara.

Michael Holding: Here we go then Brian Lara on strike and facing Matthew Hoggard. Hoggard runs in and that is a fine shot. Outswinging delivery but Lara played an expansive cover drive which races to the boundary. Hoggard walking back to his mark then and now ready to bowl again to Lara who stands tall at the crease. That one is shorter and Lara picks it early and hits it over the overs off the backfoot with brilliant timing for his seventh four of his innings. Lara is playign really well here.

Two more overs pass with one run being scored. Panesar is to bowl to Lara.

Michael Atherton: Panesar then to try and do his best to end this good Lara innings. Runs in then and that is a sweep will it beat the man on the boundary? Yes it does and that is a great shot the power Lara managed to get into the shot was unbelievable.

Hoggard bowls a maiden and Panesar is about to bowl to Chanderpaul in the 82nd over with the score 173/2.

Michael Holding: Here we go Monty Panesar to bowl to Shiv Chanderpaul who has surprisingly really struggled in this innings so far. Panesar releases the ball and he has bowled him. Great delivery it beat the outside edge and hit the top of offstump. That is a bowlers dream to get a wicket like that and Chanderpaul goes for 6 off over 100 deliveries! Its 173/3 and England are on the rampage.

22813434395.jpg

Michael Atherton: Right the new man is Ramnaresh Sarwan and he has been in good form so far in this series. England will want his wicket quickly because if these two at the crease get going it could be curtains for England winning this game.

22813434377.jpg

Michael Holding: Right Matthew Hoggard to continue then and Brian Lara is on strike. Hoggard running in and that is full but its picked up really early from Lara and it is whacked over long off for a massive six to move Lara to 83 not out and causing a real problem for the England bowlers. Lara will now be eyeing his century.

Michael Atherton: Right Panesar to bowl to Sarwan then in the 84th over. Sarwan plays a forward defence but it is has come of the toe of the bat and that has gone to Paul Collingwood at forward short leg. Panesar strikes again and he ahs all four wickets now! Sarwan goes for just 1 and the West Indies are 181/4. England now sense that they can get into the lower order West Indies batsmen.

22813434386.jpg

Michael Holding: The new man for the West Indies is the all rounder Dwayne Bravo who managed just 1 in the first innings and his place is up for grabs. What can he do in this innings. It would be good if he had a partnership with Brian Lara that is for sure.

22813434251.jpg

The next over passes and Flintoff is into the attack replacing Hoggard. He concedes just 1 run. Panesar is to continue and about to bowl to Lara in the 86th over.

Michael Atherton: Right Monty Panesar to continue his battle with West Indies captain Brian Lara. Monty running in then and that is 4. Sweep shot hit hard from Lara to the boundary and he is now into the nervous nineties. Can Lara get his century or will Panesar have the last laugh?

Another five overs pass with one run coming from each over. Flintoff and Panesar are restricting the batsmen by bowling very accurately.

Michael Holding: Right Monty Panesar to Brian Lara again then and this time its tossed up a bit more but its the same reuslt its another four and Brian Lara is now 99 not out after advancing down the wicket and square driving it for four between poitn and cover. Great shot and Lara is playing really really well out here today. This innings is putting the West Indies into a good position.

Flintoff bowls a maiden to Dwayne Bravo and then Monty's spell is ended as Vaughan brings Paul Collingwood into the attack in the 94th over.

Michael Atherton: Right Brian Lara just one run away from his century then and Collingwood to bowl. That is played down to third man through the slips and there it is Brian Lara gets the first century for a West Indies batsmen in this test series and it has been a fine innings indeed. 101 off of 195 balls with ten fours and three sixes. Now can he go on and hurt England even more?

22813433864.jpg

Michael Holding: Flintoff to carry on bowling and pose problems for Dwayne Bravo at the crease then. Bowls and he is struck in front. That must be close the England bowlers appeal and he is given by Asad Rauf. The West Indies lose their third wicket of the session and they are now 202/5 with Lara the only man to do anything and he has a century. The West Indies need someone to form a partnership with the captain.

22813434351.jpg

Michael Atherton: Right the new man is Carlton Baugh the wicket keeper. He needs some runs quite badly as well because he has failed in his three innings of the series so far. What can he do here then?

22813433914.jpg

Michael Holding: Right here is Collingwood to bowl to Lara once more then. Running in and that is a poor ball short and wide and Lara square drives it away to the boundary again and Collingwood looks annoyed at the poor ball he just bowled. West Indies are 206/5 and have a healthy lead and they will definitely carry on batting until they are all out i think.

The last six overs are bowled with just three runs being scored so at the end of the afternoon session of play the West Indies are 211/5.

Michael Atherton: Right if we look at the West Indies scorecard then the real star of the innings had been the captain Brian Lara who has reached 110 not out and is looking really confident and has played superbly. He hasn't had any support from Sarwan. Bravo or Baugh but Chanderpaul stayed at the crease for a long time despite only scoring five runs. Hinds managed 52 and played well while Gayle reached 29. Overall the West Indies will be happy with their batting performance so far.

22813434324.jpg

Michael Holding: As for the England bowlers then they have all bowled plenty of overs but the only two men that have got wickets are Freddie Flintoff who has one and the real star, Monty Panesar who has 4-54 off 30 overs and is bowling accurately, economically and really aggressively as well. He has bowled brilliantly.

22813434320.jpg

Michael Atherton: Join us after the break when we will watch the evening session of play on the fourth day of this test match. See you after the break!

LOL Chanderpaul. 6 of 103. Very slow. Nice batting by Lara as usual, but he could soon be running out of partners. Really nice work.

England vs. West Indies: 2nd Test, Day Four, Evening Session LIVE!

17306380850.jpg

David Gower: Welcome back to the home of cricket Lord's where this match couldn't be more evenly poised between England and the West Indies. The West Indies are 211/5 which is a lead of 177. This session should give us an indication of weather the West Indies are aiaming to win or bat out time and get a draw. To take you through this evening session are Nasser Hussain but first David Lloyd.

David Lloyd: Thank you David and as you rightly say this is going to be a fascinating session for us all to see. To open the session bowling wise it will be Steve Harmison bowling to Brian Lara who remember is 110 not out and is really frustrating the England bowlers. Harmison then and that will be four! A great cover drive by Lara beats the infield and the sweeper and it wasn't even a bad ball juts a really great shot. Lara is looking imperious out here.

7 overs pass and just six runs are put on the board by the West Indies. Harmison is ready to bowl to Steve Harmison again.

Nasser Hussain: Right Harmison to continue to bowl to Lara then. Running in and that is in the air and will it be caught by the man in the deep no because it is wide of him and that is a lofted cover drive for a one bounce four. Great shot and does this signal that Lara is looking to move the score on now.

2 overs pass with three runs being scored and Matthew Hoggard is about to bowl to Carlton Baugh.

David Lloyd: Right here is Matthew Hoggard bowling to west Indies wicket keeper Carlton Baugh then. Running in then and that is swinging away and it is edged straight to Ian Bell at gully. Hoggard strikes and Baugh must go for 4. The West Indies are 231/6 and England are through to the tail.

2330636559.jpg

Nasser Hussain: Right the next man in is Mervyn Dillon but he can bat a bit so don't be surprised if he hangs around for a while and gives Lara most of the strike.

23306365917.jpg

4 overs pass with three maidens being bowled and the other with just two runs from. Dillon is facing Harmison but Hoggard has been replaced by Monty Panesar.

David Lloyd: Right here we go then Harmison to Dillon. Running in and that is out! Edged straight behind to Matt Prior behind the stumps. Harmison celebrates because he has his man. Mervyn Dillon goes for a single and the West Indies are now 234/7. Great bowling from Steve Harmison there he bowled some short deliveries and then pitched one right up.

23306365984.jpg

Nasser Hussain: West Indies on the brink then and the new man is Pedro Collins who definitely isn't known for his batting qualities. England will be looking to wrap this up now and quickly before the end of the day's play.

23306365948.jpg

The next ten overs pass with the West Indies boring England and scoring just 7 runs. Lara is being held back by the bowlers while Collins is defending every ball. The last over of the day is to be bowled by Monty Panesar to Pedro Collins.

David Lloyd: Right Monty to bowl the last ball of the day then. Runs in and that is a quicker one and Collins tries to sweep but is struck in front. Big appeal from England and given! Monty Panesar strikes with the last ball of the day and Collins can't believe it he felt the ball was going down the leg side but the replay shows that it was plum. Great finish for England. Collins goes for 1 after 33 balls.

23306365950.jpg

Nasser Hussain: Right if we look at the West Indies scorecard then we can see that only three men have got in for the West Indies and they are the top trhee. Wavell Hinds made a very good half century, Gayle made an attacking 29 but the real stand out performance has come from Brian Lara who is the only centurion and is 134 not out. He has demolished the England bowling attack. Sarwan, Chanderpaul, Bravo and Baugh have all failed.

23306365995.jpg

David Lloyd: As for the England bowlers four of the six used have been effective. Simon Jones has struggled and Collingwood has only had five overs. Harmison, Hoggard and Flintoff have got a wicket each and have bowled really well but the one man who has dominated the West Indies batsmen is Monty Panesar who has a five wicket haul and has dismissed all the opening batsmen. Overall England will look to dismiss the West Indians quickly tomorrow morning and then win the match.

23306365825.jpg

Nasser Hussain: Join us after the break when we will analyse the whole day's play and look at how both teamswill feel as well as exclusive interviews with the players.

Brilliant bowling by Monty. :) Except for Lara, bad performance from Windies. Fantastic presentation mate
