The Lankan Lions' Journey

kumarsangakkara20091181.jpg

The Sri Lanka Cricket announced the 16 man squad for their tour to India to be held in about 2 weeks from now.
After winning the Micromax Mobile Cup in Zimbabwe, the team's morale is high. It was a real confidence - booster as Sri Lanka had rested quite a few of its key players, searching for some young talent for the WC 2011 to be held in the sub continent. Now, the preparations are in full swing. The key players are back, the team is set and is raring to go.

On the other hand, Team India would be hoping to continue their momentum after winning the Micromax Mobile T20 Cup against Zimbabwe. They too have brought in their key players back.
It'll be interesting to see how the team's fair now.

Sri Lankan Captain Kumar Sangakkara said,

"Its really nice to see the team doing well in the absence of some experienced. The most important thing for us is that Dilshan is now back in form, and hopefully he will continue it till the 2011 WC. Our primary aim won't really be to win this tournament, but it will be to prepare well for the WC 2011."

When asked on the exclusion of Jayasuirya from the side, Sangakkara said,

"Its not that he is completely out for our WC plans. He has been a great servant to the Sri Lankan Cricket, and would be certainly missed. I hope to see him back in the side soon."

Kumar Sangakkara looked confident in front of the press. Now that he says that primary aim is to prepare for the WC, lets see how they perform in this series against India.

Sri Lanka Squad: Kumar Sangakkara (c), Muttiah Muralidharan, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Upul Tharanga, Mahela Jayawardana, Lasith Malinga, Anjelo Mathews, Thilan Samaraweera, Farvez Maharoof, Chamara Kapugedara, Nuwan Kulasekera, Chanaka Welagedara, Suraj Randiv, Rangana Herath, Thilina Kandamby and Ajantha Mendis.

India Squad:: Mahendra Singh Dhoni (c), Virender Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar, Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh, Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja, Harbhajan Singh, Praveen Kumar, Zaheer Khan, Ashish Nehra, Pragyan Ojha, Ashok Dinda, Yusuf Pathan and Saurabh Tiwary.

The Fixtures:
1st ODI at Rajkot (Day)
2nd ODI at Kolkata (Day - Night)
3rd ODI at Chennai (Day - Night)

Note: This is a story being written after the Micromax Mobile Tri Nations cup held in Zimbabwe has no connection with the real incidents thereafter.

Sorry for this, but does anyone knows the name of these two people?
They are the official commentators of Neo Cricket, a channel which telecasts all the home matches of India.

And in this one, the guy in the right side.

The Lankan Lions Reach India

The Sri Lankan Cricket team arrives in India in full confidence. The entire team looks united, strong and fit, except Lasit Malinga.

The Lankan team arrived at 10 PM, and a practice session was scheduled for morning 8. Lasith Malinga, unfortunately in the practice session had a cramp.
It is still not known how serious the injury is, but it might be possible for Fernando to get a place in the Playing XI if Malinga isn't able to make it.

Rest of team looked rock solid. The practice session was quite an extended one for the skipper Kumar Sangakkara. He looked determined and focused, facing spinners, seamers, under - arms and baseball throws.

The first match of the three match series is to be held in Rajkot.
The teams will soon depart for Rajkot from Mumbai.

You just need a bit of work on your english, mainly the grammar, but you'll get that with experience, and this story could be pretty good.

I think this is a pretty good start to your story :) There are a few grammatical and spelling problems, but nothing extremely bad - your story is still completely readable :)

Good luck!

@Binnu: What he wrote was fine. It means Malinga, while in the practice session, had a cramp.

But I'm not sure how a cramp would see him ruled out? I've never heard of a player pulling out of a game because they got cramp. Maybe during a game, but not before.

But I'm probably wrong so don't worry. Good start anyway!

Pitch Report and Pre - Match Presentation
First ODI: India vs Sri Lanka, Rajkot

Pitch Report with Ravi Shastri

280709ravishastri226.jpg

"The pitch looks good, but it surely isn't the usual Rajkot pitch where the ball bounces evenly and has a good carry to the keeper. The pitch today might act slow and low. The heavy rainfall yesterday could add up to the problems. The early start and with some reasonably well amount of wind, the seamers at the beginning will get a lot of movement in the air. If you win the toss, bowl first, put the opposition under pressure and restrict them to a target less than of about 210 to 230."

Pre - match presentation with Archana Vijaya

305543531711fc3f6709.jpg

"The morning isn't too good today as they are some chances of the rain, no bright sun along with a slow and low wicket. Sources suggest that the pitch today is not so batting friendly, and the 'out of form' Indian bowling attack might face some problems. The entire Rajkot expects their hero, Sachin Tendulkar to provide a good start with his disciple, Virender Sehwag. Let's hope that the rain God listens to us and we don't see any showers here today. That's all for now, the match will be starting in about 10 minutes. Stay tuned.
Chao"
