The Lankan Lions' Journey
The Sri Lanka Cricket announced the 16 man squad for their tour to India to be held in about 2 weeks from now.
After winning the Micromax Mobile Cup in Zimbabwe, the team's morale is high. It was a real confidence - booster as Sri Lanka had rested quite a few of its key players, searching for some young talent for the WC 2011 to be held in the sub continent. Now, the preparations are in full swing. The key players are back, the team is set and is raring to go.
On the other hand, Team India would be hoping to continue their momentum after winning the Micromax Mobile T20 Cup against Zimbabwe. They too have brought in their key players back.
It'll be interesting to see how the team's fair now.
Sri Lankan Captain Kumar Sangakkara said,
"Its really nice to see the team doing well in the absence of some experienced. The most important thing for us is that Dilshan is now back in form, and hopefully he will continue it till the 2011 WC. Our primary aim won't really be to win this tournament, but it will be to prepare well for the WC 2011."
When asked on the exclusion of Jayasuirya from the side, Sangakkara said,
"Its not that he is completely out for our WC plans. He has been a great servant to the Sri Lankan Cricket, and would be certainly missed. I hope to see him back in the side soon."
Kumar Sangakkara looked confident in front of the press. Now that he says that primary aim is to prepare for the WC, lets see how they perform in this series against India.
