Bangladesh, one of the most exciting teams in cricket. One of the inexperienced cricket team which is now trying to make its name in Cricketing sport. They had defeated the ODI leaders,The Australian Cricket Team. They have also defeated teams like India, Pakistan and have caused such upsets in ODI's. Their most remarkable achievement in cricket was the recent win of ODI's and Tests against the Windies in the Carribean. In the recently concluded Test series versus India, they lost but they showed that they are capable of playing tests too. They started with the likes of talented Habibul Bashar, Khaled Mahmud, Rajin Saleh and now they have a more talented bunch of cricketers like Mohammad Ashraful, Tamim Iqbal, Mashrafe Mortaza and one of the top five all rounders, Shakib Al Hasan.
This is a story based on Bangladesh's race to the top which will their see the ups and downs too. Comments will be appreciated.:) .More to come soon!

( I am back after a Ban, so I hope to start off with a Bang!!)

Bangladesh To Tour England.

Bangladesh are all set to go to England after a disappointing T20 World Cup at the West Indies. There will be a 2 Match Test Series and a ODI series later. ICC President had earlier said that it will be a Day/Night Test Series but it was not possible so and they said that it will take a couple of years to do so. But even without that, it will be a good test for both of them.

There will be a lot of expectations from the Tigers. Jamie Siddons, the Bangladesh Coach is also confident of a good performance in England as he said in a recent interview. With some good performances in the recent past, Bangladesh will try to make a mark here. Even a Cadbury chocolate took about 10 years to make its name in the market. Bangladeshis are a bit similar to it as they are improving day by day.

It will not be easy to face the fiercy quickies of Jimmy(James) Anderson, Sidebottom and the tricky ones of Swann too. With confidence boosting all over them after winning the T20 World Cup, England are a good looking side than the Bangladeshis even after resting few of their key guns. With Andrew Strauss leading from the front, they will come all guns blazing against the Tigers.

The Bangladesh's 16 man Squad was announced earlier and this is how it looked:

Shakib Al Hasan(C)
Mushfiqur Rahim(WK)
Abdur Razzak
Imrul Kayes
Jahurul Islam
Junaid Siddique
Mahbubul Alam
Mahmudullah Riad
Mohammad Ashraful
Naeem Islam
Robiul Islam
Shafiul Islam
Rubel Hossain
Shamsur Rahman
Tamim Iqbal

The New Faces:

Shamsur Rahman:
This player is an impressive Right Hander. With 1960 runs in 37 matches at an average of 31 in first class cricket and with 735 runs in 33 games at an average of 24.50, this one is a promising youngster.

Robiul Islam:
This young quickie deserves a place as he has taken 114 wickets in 34 first class matches wit six 5 wicket hauls and an strike rate of 50. He is one to look out for.

Jahurul Islam:
This one is a batsman who can keep too. He has scored 3948 runs in 65 matches at an average of 36.He has got 8 hundreds and 25 fifties under his belt.

Shafiul Islam:
This player isnt much experienced as he has played just 17 matches but has 37 wickets to his name. He has impressed the selectors with this kin of a performance.

News from ECB:

The squad for England was also announced earlier.

Squad:
Andrew Strauss(C)
Ian Bell
James Anderson
Alastair Cook
Steven Finn
Eoin Morgan
Kevin Pietersen
Matt Prior(WK)
Ajmal Shahzad
Ryan Sidebottom
Graeme Swann
Jonathan Trott

Fixtures of the Two Match Test series:
27 May to 31 May: 1st Test at Lords.
4 June to 8 June: 2nd Test at Old Trafford.

An Interview With Jahurul Islam

Reporter: So Jahurul, you have got a chance in the National side, how are you feeling??
Jahurul: I am very happy for that:) I was expecting that as I had done good in the domestic circuit.
R: Yes, you have done exceptionally well with 3900 odd runs in domestic cricket, so how good it will be for you by sharing the dressing room with the international players?
JI:Yes, Sharing room with Shakib, Ashraful and all will be great experience for me. And yes, with that many runs in domestic cricket, it will boost my confidence.
R:So, you expect a chance to get to play in the playing XI?
JI:I cant tell much about that but for me, I am confident that I can get a chance there!
R:Shamsur Rahman, Robiul Islam, Shafiul Islam have also got chances in this series.Whatsay about that?
JI:It is good.I have played with them and they are good cricketers and they deserve a chance too!
R:Hmm...That's good..But You'll have lost the last test series against the same opposition in your home, will that cause a setback to your team?
JI:No, that was past and past is past..Now we will think of present and try to do better than that.
R: So in the end, all the best for you and your team:thumbs
JI:Thanks..
R:So Bangladesh are looking confident ahead of the 2 match series. That's all from the interview.More to come soon!

Heavy Rains Cause Problems At Lords.

lords.jpg

This Is how the ground looked after the hard work done by the Staff of Lords ground.

The Bangladeshi Players arrived England on 23 and practiced at Lords. They faced light showers on 24th and 25th.While they were practicing on the 26th, heavy rains started and stopped their practice. That wasnt the big thing. The issue was that those rains were so heavy that they could have abandoned the play.Though the 22 yards were covered, the rest of the field was looking very sloppy with water all around! But the great work done by the Lords staff including curators, etc makes the game to be possible! ECB and BCB were very happy with that and rewarded the Staff. Though the pitch is ready for play, the weather also has to be good. Weather experts say that there will be rain in the next 5 days which was a bad news for all the cricket fans.

All we can do is just keep our fingers crossed and hope there is no rain!! The N Power Test series action is just a day away! Stay tuned to "The Roaring Minnows" thread for all the action!!
