YOOHOO !!!!!

SRL have won . I feel like celebrating ! A win for our neighbours !
Is this the same SRL side that lost 6-1 and 4-1 to India and NZ recnetly .
They`ve ben outstanding.

I said y`day that Adelaide and Sydney are thier best chances to win a game in Australia and they did it.
I saw on cricinfo that Dilshan affected 4 run-outs.!
Also just watching the Highlights .

Australia look beatable now and their bowling is looking aweful !
There are some really dangerous batting lineups of India,Pakistan,NZ and SRL waiting to beat Australia .

what a poor performence by australia, 4 runouts in an innings and 3 of them by mistakes, future is not good for australia if they plays like that and especially is katich will open the innings they will even wont play in world cup super six series next year, hayden has to come back or someone else have to take the katich's position. Some of the Australian players are also not happy with katich opening like we have seen ricky today when he got out by mistake of katich.

Ponting was more than happy to back Katich as you do, but maybe this will change his mind. Yes Katich keeps making 50 but once again he has failed to make a big score and steer us to victory. The question was asked, can Katich guide us to a big total? Well yet again this guy has managed to wriggle his way out of answering the question and avoiding the axe by getting himself run out. Had he got out bowled or caught there would be critics from everywhere asking for him to be axed.

I cant believe you are complaining about a guy who keeps getting 50's. How ridiculous. Ok, he isn't going on to make the three figures at the moment, but Katich has ability, it is there to see. He is a quality player, and should of stayed in the test team in my honest opinion.

Zexy, you mean good for Sri Lanka right :P

Symonds was a slow bowling option and he got taken to. I don't think slow bowlers is the answer really. Bracken seems to be trying to do too much at the end and end sup being hit because of it.

Yeah Bracken got wickets but he fell away from his stock deliveries and therefore got carried away with his slower deliveries, cutters and off-breaks. The variations are good, but should be used in the right situation for deception, not four balls an over because then he'll obviously lose some rhythm.

Katich has already four fifties so far. Not bad for me. And yeah, I meant good for Sri Lanka. :)

Next match is already tomorrow. It is four years ago, when Australia didn't win the VB Series. But then they were third. Maybe we won't see a third final again.

Cutters and off breaks are good change ups but using them each over will eventually maike them easy to pick and you will expect them. Its more important to pitch the ball right at the end then to try to make the batsmen mistime, usually its a no lose situation for wickets and they will go soo hard at it if they ge tit in the middle its gone anyway. See he got 3 wickets but they were all because the batsmen had nothing to lose. What damaged him were the balls which pitched poorly.

The three wickets made Bracken look like he bowled decent, but really he didn't.

Compare this to the guy that made his debut opening and scored 94. You tell me would you rather have a guy only making 50s more times than not when opening or a guy that will go on to triple figures like a normal opener should? What good is a 50 if you are meant to be the anchor? Look what happened yesterday, Katich gets out, Australia batters forget how to run. Now change this around, Katich makes a 100, Australia 1-0 up!

Well I agree, He's getting too caught up with the variations that it's lost all element of surprise. But how about Stuart Clark, he's been getting wickets every match, and usually as a result of a poorly executed or selected attacking shot. In some cases yes it has been good bowling, but he hasn't necessarily been forcing these errors with relentless bowling that grinds the batsman down all the time. How would he go in Test cricket? Hard question because he succeeds in the four-day game.

Katich takes his time to get himself in, his strike rate isn't good enough for 50's its only in the 60's and sometimes low 70's. With that strike rate he needs to bat the majority of the innings around strike makers. You can accept Gilchrist getting himself out because he scores quickly and takes risks.

There will come a time where Katich doesn't make fiftys and will be dropped. Because hes not getting big score son the board now, as soon as hes down on form he'll be in trouble. Especially because hes an opener.

And yes, Clark is in the same boat somewhat. Except he bowled a bit better.

Totally agree irottev, we have a guy called Jaques (State player of the year) opening for NSW when he should be opening for Aus.

On Clark he definitely is no McGrath clone. Hasn't got any wickets through seam movement and sure as hell doesn't keep it tight.

Good effort by the boys to get close despite playing so poorly, some decent lengths at the death and some brain food before batting and we should be a tougher proposition in the second match. Here's hoping.

He gets 94 and your complaining he didn't get a hundred? Thats 6 runs for christs sake! Its nothing. The milestone doesn't matter. You shouldn't be looking at Katich, he is the least of your worries.

Oh definatly, they got it pretty close. The run outs cost them in the end. Big time.

And no, you misread, he wasn't complaining about Jacques.

He should never of been dropped 94 on debut is just fantastic.

I think he thought I meant Katich got 94 lol. He wishes! Katich is the main reason for our worries. Chuck in Phil Jaques as an opener and see the difference.
If you are getting out in the 50s in the middle order aka Hussey then I would be fine, but he is an opener. He is not an attacking batsmen hence he should at least have one 100 by now. Yesterday was his chance to make a 100 but he gets run out.
