SMITH REACHES WELL EARNED 50 WHILE SA GAIN UPPER HAND

The redbacks are now back in control after some enthralling batting from Ferguson and Smith. The redbacks shifted up a gear to start scoring more steadily whithout taking too many any chances. They are currently 3/121 after 20 overs.

C.Ferguson 18*
J.Smith 50*

Nice run rate, C'mon Ferguson, he just made a 50 in my story, be good to see him make more. :D :D

SMITH AND FERGUSON BLAST WINDIES

Smith and his counterpart Callum Ferguson are continuing to punish half volley bowling. The pair have put on 37 in the last 7 overs to leave the redbacks at 3/158 from 36. This was topped off by a massive 6 over mid-wicket by Smith at the end of the 36th over. Smith must also now have a small though of his hundred in the back of his mind.

Smith 72*
Ferguson 30*

lol hopefully he gets a nice score here. And just to let everyone know, It was actually the 29th over when he got his 50, not the 20th.

and btw does anyone know Smiths first name?

SMITH FAILS TO CAPITALIZE

J.Smith came to an unfortunate end on 78 when he was caught by Chanderpaul the captain off the bowling of Hinds. He seemed anxious to hit over the in field which proved his downfall when he didn't pick the slower ball. So now the match swings back to even. Callum Ferguson will have to make a big score to ensure a decent total.

C.Ferguson 40*
N.Adcock 0*

FERGUSON BRINGS UP 50

Callum Ferguson has notched up the 2nd 50 of the day with a gutsy performance. He has played all of his shots with confidence and precision. He must now get his head down and form a partnership with Adcock who also looks in good touch.

C.Ferguson 50*
N.Adcock 8*
4/195 (45.3)

FERGUSON FAILS AS SOUTH AUSTRALIA CHOKE

Young gun Callum Ferguson had to make runs, something which he could not seem to do after reaching his 50. Callum put on 5 more runs before falling victim to a cunning Windies bowling lineup. He was forced to block 5 consecutive deliveries which frustrated him into playing a half-hearted slog straight to mid off. Cullen and Manou quickly followed suite and before anyone could blink it was 7/222.

N.Adcock 21*
J.Gillespie 1*

Richie Benaud: A brilliant comeback by the Windies, During the day they have been hammered and slogged but to their credit they kept to their gameplan and it is starting to work. Anywhere below 280 is a good effort on this pitch

DIZZY AND ADCOCK GONE, TAIT SOON FOLLOWS

Jason Gillespie and Nathan Adcock were the last hopes for SA if they wanted to get anywhere near 300. Both of them fell in consecutive overs. Gillespie was the first to go with a snick straight to Samuels at gully from Hinds's bowling. Adcock then went in the second ball of the next over, He was caught by Brian Lara after Collymore sent a vicious bouncer which forced the batsmen to misstime to ball straight to square leg. Shaun Tait played a small cameo but in the end it was not enough to get the Redbakcs past 250

Dosnt matter if they got out for 240, they will still beat the Windies by over 300 runs. opps that actually happend, my bad :D :D

WINDIES LOOSE EARLY WICKET

Chris gayle was the man the Redbacks wanted, and now they've got him. Gayle was looking in good form, playing very confident strokes but his luck ran out when he tried to hook a Gillespie bouncer which was edged then caught by the keeper Manou. Gillespie definately looks fired up, the first ball he bowled to Lara was a vicous bouncer which smacked into his helmet. Lara is going to have to recover and fight on for the Windies.

DIZZY'S ON FIRE

Jason Gillespie is the man who is keeping the Redbacks alive, He claimed his second wicket which is eaily the biggest scalp of the game, Brian Lara. Gillespie bowled a slower inswinger on leg stump which caught Lara unaware. he popped one up straight into Gillespie's waiting hands.

Hinds 21*
Chanderpaul 0*

Gillespie 2/19 (10.5)
