There have been quite a few standout performances in this years World T20. But who would make it to your 'Best XI'?
My openers would have to be Chris Gayle and TM Dilshan, Gayle's ability to throw bat at ball and watch it sail over the boundary, and Dilshan's smart, considerate approach that allows him to score runs anywhere on the pitch would provide a good opening partnership.
At number 3, I would have Kevin Pietersen. He was a real asset to England with the bat. His pure explosiveness kept England in the tournament, and his field awareness always allowed him to rotate the strike.
In my middle order, I would go for AB De Villiers, Dwayne Bravo and Shahid Afridi. De Villiers managed to pull a big performance out the hat once or twice for South Africa, and has an intimidating presence in the field. Dwayne Bravo is also a sublime fielder, but as an allrounder there's not much he does wrong. Boom Boom Afridi is there because he gives you something else with the ball, and has that batting prowess rival attacks would quiver at.
At number 7, my wicketkeeper would be Kamran Akmal. Undoubtedly a great batsman, he didn't put a foot, or glove rather, out of line. I know he opened for Pakistan but I think he'd do well in a Matt Prior-esque role.
My bowling attack would consist of Angelo Mathews, Umar Gul, Mendis and Wayne Parnell. Mathews proved he can do wonders with the new ball against the Windies, and sharing it with Wayne Parnell, batsman would find it hard to get many runs. Mendis was sublime with the ball, and confuses batsman with his varied range of deliviries. Umar Gul was the obvious choice and I've left him till last. He produces magic with the ball at the death and would really kill off any challenge from the 14th over.
