Who SHOULD be the English Wicket-Keeper

I'd say Phil Mustard, his keeping is solid and he can be a dominant batsman, I think he deserves a chance.
If the choice is made to also strengthen the batting considerably, it must be Prior, unless Jones finds his 2005 batting form.

Mustard? :D He's okay but way down the pecking order.

I think he should be in with a shout though, if they're going to juggle like this why not give everyone a fair chance?

Because eighteen into one doesn't fit too well....

We have to have options because we don't know who our number one keeper is, but we can't give just anyone a go as it creates too much fannying around and we'll get nowhere fast (like a snail on a treadmill).

england need matt prior 100% he's the best they got at a batting wicket keeper, and he is not too bad at opening as well

Saw prior other day, Adverage performance.

And who's done better over the last 2 or 3 seasons consistantly? He is easily the most talented of the keeper/batsman we have so should get the nod. As has been said, Davies is probably too young at the moment.

Aye, Davies has played only one or two full seasons, 33 games isn't alot.

How about throwing the name of Tim Ambrose into the hat? Got a double hundred today, made runs in the earlier games too.

iirc he got a championship hundred in one of their earlier games.

30, 51*, 72, 203* (at the moment and still batting)

111* from 83 balls vs Northants in the FPT, 55* vs Lancs in the FPT.

Flipping heck!

lol good call plus I think Prior should be keeper and if they chose anyone else it will be a step backward and start of this new era of english cricket badly. Make aggressive selections with match winners not people who can keep it tight or who can stay in for a while thats what the australians do and you should always learn from the best no matter if they are your rival or not

i think Nixon until he retires...showed his class in the WC...

I suppose Ambrose is no worse than any of the other candidates. Looks an ok batsman but I can't really say anything about his keeping as I've never seen it.

Seeing as Moores was at Sussex at the same time you'd have to surmise that he is well aware of Ambrose and what he can potentially offer. Whether that works in his favour is another question, especially as it appears that Moores led the push to make Prior the main keeper, instead of the two sharing.

At the moment I would have to say that it's going to be a close call between Nixon and Prior with Prior just getting the nod. As for who'll have the gig at the end of the summer, well thats anybodies guess. I just hope that someone grabs the opportunity and really kicks on.
