To summarise: Asia offers money, we have all the unimportant things like top class facilities.
And that is what ICC requires now to develop interest in cricket for other countries.

Tournament returns to subcontinent after 15 years
So Australia has to wait 23 years despite being the world best team, winning the past 2 world cups and having world class facilities.

Yeah, that makes sense.

I agree, I also wanted Pakistan to win World Cup again as last time in Australia.

Ok i have had enough guys.. i think this thread has served its purpose coz it has been conformed that it will be in Asia and thats it and u all guys are fighting here for nothing..

What a joke. The ICC bending over backwards for Asia again. My avatar couldn't be more correct.

This is totall and utter bull:mad:2011 that'll be 28 years since we host it but to the ICC it's all about Money, Money and more Money :whip they don't care at being fair or smart they just care about the $dollar$:getyou look at it how much Australia has given to one-day cricket, all the new ideas and the Communication and this is how we get repaid:cutit it's a complete and utter joke :mad

And the sore loserly attitude of the Aussie fans resurfaces after the Ashes. Lookie here, it is not as if the ICC awarded the World Cup to Asia. They secured 10/13 votes. It wasn't even close. It is quite obvious that no other team (except England--who I think was the 3rd voter for A/Nz) preferred the World Cup to be played in Australia/New Zealand than in the Indian Subcontinent.

Now take your bad attitude home and put it back in your cupboard. As for claims of racism in either part of the world, this thread just about gives you a lot to think about doesn't it? And finally, I've seen 'facilities' thrown around a few more times without explanation.

I didn't read every posts of it, but for some reason this thread looks a bit more like a confrontation of Asians against Australians. I myself, like I said, don't care where the World Cup would be held.

I don't think WI have a world class team, and yet they are hosting this tournament. Facilities in Asia will improve very much, and they deserve to host the WC. Its not that money is of little importance to ICC.

Accept it, BCCI/Sub-continent run most of cricket, atleast financially and they will get the chance, somehow, to hold such events often.

The venues that will be selected for WC will be very good.

And why should not the ICC look at money ? Money runs the world, dude. Whatever we might read in poetry or philosophy. Why do you suppose all the world puts up with the US' bullshit ? Why do you suppose Brazil doesn't get to host the world cup soccer inspite of winning 5 of these and taking part in every World cup till date ? (The only team to do so, infact)

Australia and NZ ain't poor countries. Go buy some votes - it was 10/13 for Asia after all! Its quite clear how the world looks at the "facilities" question.

Has anybody actually congratulated Asia for winning the bid so comprehensively? What one sees is the same bitchy attitude we had from the usual suspects in the "Dhoni moves to no.1 in rankings thread"

Sad for me but i'll take this.. 10/13 votes is a clear margin and if all the countries want the WC to be played in Asia in 2011 then that's the way it'll be. We got lots of other big international sporting events, particularly in Melbourne so fairplay to India-Pak-SL-Ban, all we can ask is for them to do a great job of hosting it. perhaps we might win like in 1987 :)

Has anybody actually congratulated Asia for winning the bid so comprehensively?

Yep, reiterate it again, Congrats Asia, good luck for the event. I think if India is thought of as good enough , or atleast be good enough in 4 years to host the Commonwealth Games facilties wise i don't see the problem in Cricket WC 4 years after that.

I know Women's cricket isnt all that interesting and competitive and i've hardly followed it and only watch games i went to were ex gf used to play and that was hardly entertaining except talking with the girls at the boundary ..But lol just found out we've got the 2009 AND 2013 Women's World Cup..Now that woudnt be considered fair but im guessing only we have put a 1/2 decent bid for it..money or no money in that..purely for Cricket's and Equality's sake..So guys, do your bit and support it !

I agree, there were few buggers in that thread posting utter non-sense.

I'm actually happy to see the sub-continent getting the WC chance, it just shows the control they have. Sometimes its not good for the game, and for few other things...but atleast, it'll quieten(or will it?) few guys.

I remember Pawar stating that he'll be building new stadiums/improve the infrastructure in the current one's. Lets see how fast he manages to get on top of the schedule and work.

Dunno how much time he can devote since he's already Union Minister for Agriculture, is on all important cabinet committees including those on defence, economy and external affars, is a top Maharashtra politician who is involved in a shadow war with his own ally - The Indian National Congress and also has to fulfil the demands of the influential 'sugar lobby' :p
