I agree that Prior still has to prove himself but on that basis so does Haddin. His HS is against New Zealand and his average was around 30 playing in India and South Africa.

And that's a bad thing Lol

Yeah I agree though, Haddin still has a lot to prove. Plus Prior has more responsibility as England's batting line-up is arguably weaker.

Interesting debate. Both are good batsman, questionable behind the stumps. I think it's too early to compare them. Maybe once the series is over we can make a fairer comparison.

You all know what I think ;)

Haddin's a better batter - which is what I voted on.

As for the complete package, give me Prior over Haddin anyday. And it's not just because he's a cheat. His keeping is atrocious and Prior isn't that much worse with the bat.

Whilst I don't rate Haddin, I am willing to say he's not a cheat!

i think they are both good batsmen; but haddin seems to have a little more to his game
prior seems to have made less mistakes with the gloves though

i get the impression they are both in mainly for their batting rather than their keeping - if we wanted an out and out keeper wed probably/hopefully be looking in foster's direction

Will you Kiwi idiots quit crying he is a cheater. If you are honestly still going on about that incident, you are a ******. Let it rest.

Will you stop crying that you have a cheater playing in your side and accept the fact that he constantly keeps with his gloves in front of the wickets.

You're right. It's not like the umpires look on here or anything and will suddenly realize he's doing it and penalize him. I hope he's working on it and it doesn't happen again. All I know is that in the first test he was on replay doing it again (without the stump breaking, bowled appealing part)

Prior > Haddin. Has proved in this series that he's better with the gloves, and although Haddin's made a couple of scores, this is the first time he's done anything of genuine worth outside Australia with the bat. Prior's had 1 bad series with the bat, in 07 at home against India, Haddin's had 1 good series, and that was a very short one against New Zealand before this series. His hundred at Cardiff was hardly a brilliant knock either, the pitch was as flat as a road, and by the time he came in at 5-474 England had all but given up.

Haddin. Is. Not. A. Cheater.

So one series (in which Haddin's kept for 2 matches) proves Prior is better with the gloves? Wow, 2 matches determines your ability these days. :sarcasm

First time he's done anything of worth outside of Australia? How many series has he actually played outside of Aus? I can count them on one hand - he still has a lot of cricket left to play.

I think saying Prior is better then Haddin is a bit rich yet. I'd have more confidence in Haddin getting a hundred then Prior.

Haddin's had 3 away tours, to West Indies, India and South Africa, Prior's had 3, to West Indies, India and Sri Lanka. Prior has performed heaps better with the bat. Haddin's failed in all but 1 series in his Test career, and performed ok in 1 other (home against SA). Prior has had 1 bad series with the bat, in 07 against India at home.

No, 1 series doesn't prove definitively that Prior's better, but you seem to forget that I've seen more of Haddin than just 1 series. Prior has had 2/3 bad Tests with the gloves and they've been blown out of proportion, and he has proven the doubters wrong with excellent performances with the gloves in this series. Haddin on the other hand has looked suspect against the swinging ball, spilled simple takes and dropped a couple of catches in that Lions game.

It could be that I've seen more of Prior, but I rate him higher. I don't expect everyone to agree, but that's my opinion.
