A Decade At A Close - what has been the best innings of the last ten years?

KP at the oval in 05, that innings really captured the moment of the whole series.

however, if Sehwag can add another load of runs tomorrow, it could be one of the best.

just another thing, if sehwag scores another 16 runs tomorrow, he will become the first man to score 3 triple-centuries, just says how great a batsmen he is.

sehwag innings of today was a kinda a joke as it was batting track and india planned worked
get a batting wkt pile runs and win.
if he gets some thing like this in Australia i mean this quick without any struggle then we can say its good innings. he had played some greats in australia as well but he usually gets out after 150
he is a good player but in these conditions most batsmen will get runs. mathews also got a 99

Most players will get runs on these sorts of wickets but non will get a 200 over a run a ball.

Afridi might get 20 odd :laugh

On any wicket, a triple century is just amazing work. The triple century that he got in Chennai against South Africa was on a more flatter pitch than this one. This pitch has bounce and turn. The Sri Lankans didnt exploit it which is their problem. Sehwag also didnt let them exploit it by unsettling their best bowler, Muralitharan (in fact all their bowlers). If he gets to that triple hundred tomorrow, this can be one of the best innings played. This pitch is not even close to the one at Ahmedabad (that was as flat as a pancake).

If Sehwag crosses 400 runs today, I will say it is the best innings of this decade. Otherwise SL has a pretty average bowling attack and 300 is not anymore special than other centuries made in this decade.

For me,
in Test matches: Virender Sehwag's 319 against South Africa.
in ODI matches: Sachin Tendulkar's 175* and Charles Conventary's 194*.
in T20I's matches: Yuvi's 70(30) and Dillu's 96.
In FC matches: Wasim Jaffers 300 (Dunno how much he scored, but it was greatest of all..)
In OD Matches: Dravid's 138* in Deodhar Trophy Match VS West Zone (Ganguly was hit for 22 runs off one over..)
In T20 domestic matches: Brendon McCullum's 158 in first IPL encounter, Brad Hodge's century in KFC T20 Bigbash inaugural season final (Dunno how much he scored..), Kieron Pollard's 54 off 18 in recent CLT20 match.

I know what you are trying to do here. And I'm not in the mood to give you a fitting reply. So I'll leave the task to the other good people here :sarcasm

The closest innings Sehwag has ever played like the current one is the 195 at the MCG, apart from that he is really held back away from the sub continent. His style of play during the 150 at Adelaide was very unlike Sehwag, it was absolutely required at the time and a great innings, but its typical of how he plays away from the SC. All his big scores are on the SC. As I said earlier I would dearly love to see him tear apart bowlers in Eng or SA or even NZ.

He did get a whirlwind ton a while back against (in) NZ in an ODI...

Laxman's 281 easily eclipses Viru's innings though. It was just elegance... and triggered a victory from THAT situation.
