Gibbs and Ponting had heaps of time left when they got out, too.

Well, no, Ponting didn't actually. If he'd hit his wicket ball for six, he would have been 170*, with 14 balls left in the match.

But Gibbs had 28.1 overs left after he got out. And he was caught on the boundary too! Robelinda, confirm this?

Well Jaques came close enough today. Imagine if he went solid at the start.

Afridi can easily do it only if he would have that patience....BTW easy for Viru,Yuvi,Mahi...

I remember Mark Waugh when he made 173 against Pakistan a while back now he was scoring ferociously when he was dismissed and I think there were 3-4 overs remaining. At the time I thought he could pass Anwar at least as highest scorer in ODI history.

Vs West Indies, not Pakistan. 1st final MCG 2000/01 CUB series.

Gilly got 172 at Hobart in 04 with plenty of overs left too.

you are right I don't know why I said Pakistan, and looking back on it there was only an over left anyway for Junior.

If McCullum can score 158 off 73 balls maybe he could get the double. Would have to be against Bangladesh or Zimbabwe though
