With the World Cup now not far away I thought I'd do a list of what you'd call World Cup boilovers.

1979 - Sri Lanka beat India by 47 Runs at Old Trafford

1983 - Zimbabwe beat Australia by 13 Runs at Trent Bridge

1992 - Zimbabwe beat England by 9 Runs at Albury

1996 - Kenya beat West Indies by 73 Runs at Poona

1999 - Bangladesh beat Pakistan by 62 Runs at Northampton
- Zimbabwe beat India by 3 runs at Leister
- Zimbabwe beat South Africa by 48 Runs at Chelmsford

2003 - Canada beat Bangladesh by 60 Runs at Durban
- Kenya beat Sri Lanka by 53 Runs at Nairobi
- Kenya beat Bangladesh by 32 Runs at Johannesburg

2007 - Ireland beat Pakistan by 3 wickets at Kingston
- Bangladesh beat India by 5 wickets at Port Of Spain
- Bangladesh beat South Africa by 67 runs
- Ireland beat Bangladesh won by 5 wickets

Wonder if we'll see any in this world cup. As this list shows anything can happen

Expect Ireland and Canada/ Zimbabwe to get through to the semis on the current form of some of the Test playing nations.

Canada will stun Sri Lanka in one of the Group games.

What happened to that memorable Kenyan side from 2003?

I think and I have a fear where India might just lose to Bangladesh or Ireland :facepalm

Although it should not be true :)

West Indies and New Zealand are immensely susceptible to Ireland and Bangladesh.
Bangladesh might even replace West Indies as no.8 in ICC Rankings.

We aren't in the same group as either team so I don't see how that works :p

As I said in the prediction thread, Bangladesh will beat both England and South Africa in the group stage.

All of the other five "lesser" teams will be rubbish.

Bangladesh will beat West Indies
Zimbabwe will beat New Zealand
Canada will beat Zimbabwe

and based on current form

England beating South Africa will be a boilover :p

Memorable for all the wrong reasons?
The only reason they got that far was because New Zealand forfeited against them, and England forfeited against Zimbabwe.
They only bet one of the major eight teams (IIRC), yet somehow they made it to the semis.

While Bangladesh are expected to be a surprise package, I don't think England and South Africa are going to be that easy to beat. :noway

Of footage I've seen of some of these games, The common thread is that the Non Test teams is they do all the 1%er right. They hold their catches and good fielding.
