Semifinals and Final

i think irfan shut some people up *cough*saisrini*cough*

Did you really follow my arguments when I used to argue against him? The fact is that he has really changed himself a lot, and he has changed himself in the way that I wanted him to change, and so its not that he shut me up by playing the same way that he did. In fact, I am vindicated that he has changed himself to play the way I wanted him to.

For me, I want Indian cricket to do well. I am more patient on the cricketers than some others, but at some point you got to look at the welfare of Indian cricket. The break Irfan got was great for him and for Indian cricket. Same with Ganguly, same with Sehwag.

Well done India. I thought Pakistan would've bagged it but meh.

Australia are ranked #1 in the World in Test Matches & that's better then winning the Twenty20 & 50over World Cup put together. :D

Why do you guys sound so insecure? Why do you have to bring in Australia's dominance in test matches and ODI's here when the Indians are celebrating their Twenty20 success? Nobody denied that Aussies are the champs in the top two formats. India have just started their comeback with a win in the Twenty20 championship. We still have got quite a long way to go before we can challenge Australia for test and/or ODI dominance (we even might never ever dominate a format like Australia).

THIS IS INDIA'S TIME.....i think India won the match by LUCK b/c Misbah-ul-haq never failed in the scooped shot.....he played a very gud innings....i want him to be MOTT......

Yes luck. But they made their luck by playing so well to restrict Pakistan to 100 odd for 7 and it took a really special innings from Misbah to get Pakistan that far. This time, the luck was made by India.

EDIT: Also, im against twenty20 being a full tour like 5-7 games. Maximium of 2-3. It should be a supplement for ODI cricket. I think it works best as a crowd attraction and is the best format for spreading the game into non-cricketing nations. If cricket ever attracts US attention then this the best bet. Its a faster pace then baseball.

The ICC has a limit of only 7 international Twenty20 games per nation per year (i think not including these world cups, but not sure). So there is absolutely no chance of having full fledged Twenty20 series of 5-7 games.

The break has done the three well (Sehwag perhaps less so), I hope Munaf's drop will have the same effect if/when he comes back.

Good move by the ICC imo, it will make the World Twenty20s a bigger spectacle.

I dont think saisrini will be unhappy. He also will be feeling happy about it.

Yeah, Irfan in good form is awesome for Indian cricket.

Sehwag's fitness has seen a meteoric rise in the break that he had (forced!). He looks lean like never before. Earlier even in physique, he looked very similar to Tendulkar. Now he looks totally different. In those two innings of 40 and 68, he played really well. And they came against teams like New Zealand and England which are really good sides. If he can correct his technique against incoming deliveries, he should be perfect for our future plans.

Still not 100% sure why he didn't open the bowling though. Sreesanth does not seem to be able to control the white ball in swinging conditions while Pathan showed superhuman accuracy.

Irfan worked very well for us in the middle. Sreesanth did very well against Australia, which shows that the only problem with him is in his mind. Both he and RP Singh make a good opening pair with Irfan as one change. If both Sreesanth and RP Singh get it right together, the batsmen will have to see them off and face the prospect of having Irfan at first change. Thats a good thing to have.

He is looking good as a first change bowler. And when Zaheer will be in the team he will open the bowling with Sree.So we have 3 left armers now.We can rotate these three.Particularly Zaheer and RP.Becoz Irfan can bat.

Although Sreesanth and RP Singh on their day are the most deadly combination and Pathan on first change adds to the assault well, Sreesanth is very inconsistant. I am also one to believe that he should (as should Saj Mahmood) work on the consistancy of his bowling action. He occasionally veers away from the stumps or go towards the stumps, this does nothing for his consistancy. He needs to develop an action and the lines relating to them in a place that he is happy with so he can repeat it ball after ball, someone who does this well is Glenn Mcgrath who time after time, has the exact same action.

Sreesanth should be kept in the limited overs set up, but should only be given about three more ODI series (which probably totals about 18 ODIs) to start to show signs of improvement. If not, perhaps he should become a test specialist.

The first bit makes sense. TBH, in ODIs, I would be very happy with:

7. Pathan
8. Chawla
9. Zaheer Khan
10. RP Singh
11. Sreesanth

Another thriller, Pakistan really should have got home from 6 runs from 4 balls.
Congrats to India they peaked at the right time and beat Pakistan twice in one tournament which should have the fans jumping for joy.

We are quite used to seeing India beat Pakistan in world cup`esque tournaments.
