Your comment regarding their planning was spot on. We barely targeted Head’s short ball weakness despite knowing about it from the WTC final, we were feeding MMarsh in his strong zones and we stopped looking for wickets after the powerplay. The Aussie field placements were incredibly good and their bowling backed it up.

The fact that India were one match away from achieving a defeat-less record in a World Cup featuring a round robin format, is a BIG achievement. Even that 2007 World Cup which Australia won without a defeat, it was split into 4 Groups and then went into a Super Eights. Winning 10 matches in a row, beating every team that played the tournament was excellent from Indian team! They truly were to me, the best team of this tournament. Australia were the second best because after that first two defeats, they went on a 9-match winning run which culminated in the title.
