Pakistan "Shine" At Adelaide - Post Lunch Analaysis

Pakistan won the toss and had elected to "feild" first on which was a green track. The plan was simple for pakistan and that was to get early breakthoughs.

Australia - 95/7

Lehmann *20
Gillespie *5

Pakistan got a wicket on the first ball of the day when Rana Naved struck getting Justin Langer Golden Duck. Rana was swinging the ball around making life hell for the Aussie batsmen.

Rana - 9 - 2 - 14 - 3(W)
Razzaq - 7 - 4 - 21 - 4(W)

Rana and Razzaq bowled superbly bowling Line and Lenght and were awarded with there wickets. Australia see them selves in a tight position where pakistan will want to clean up the tail after lunch and get into bat during Tea.

Screenshots and more match updates will be provided soon...

Australia all out for 132!!

After lunch the australian batsmen did start to attack the bowlers of pakistan lehmann hitting 4 consectutive boundarys of Danish Kaneria but in the end threw his wicket away after going down the ground against Afridi.

So Far it has been Pakistan's session for a team to get Australia out for 132 took some fight and hardwork but all credit goes to Rana and Razzaq who utilized the green track.

Lets take a look at some highlights from the Australian innings.

Wickets Package

Wickets Package 2

Australia went into lunch at 95/7 a score which Ricky Ponting did not expect and had alot of thinking to do during the break.

Indeed the aussies try to show there class as the worlds best team but this team couldnt handle a "weak" pakistan bowling attack

Pakistan wrapping up the Australian innings

ScoreCard & Bowling Stats

:: Dean Jones Interview with the Ricky Ponting ::

DJ - Well Ricky where did it all go wrong?

RP - Well deano were just discussing with the coach where we went wrong and it has to be said we didnt play good cricket. Our footwork was there at all and our shot selection was the best. We knew the ball going to swing around in the 1st 15 overs so we though to ourselfs lets just bat out there untill the new ball stopped swinging, but pakistan made most use of the 1st 15 overs taking 5 wickets, from there we knew we were on the backfoot and needed a partnership.

DJ - Getting into lunch at 95/7 what was going though your mind?

RP - I thought nows the Chance for Lehmann to prove he's a world class batsmen and play out as many overs as possible.

DJ - 132 all out whats the plan now?

RP - Full out attack on the Pakistani batsmen

DJ - Well Good luck Ricky and thanks for talking with us.

RP - Cheer's Deano.

Pakistan Batting will start really soon... Shahid Afridi and Salman Butt to open. Expect some Fireworks for the crowd at The Adeliade Oval.

PAKISTAN INNINGS

PAKISTAN - 24/1

Salman Butt the 1st wicket to go a beautiful delivery by McGrath pitched outside offstump Salman Butt inside edging it to the stumps. A major breakthrough for Australia. But the danger man Shahid Afridi is still in there steadily building a innings he's on 14 from 23 balls including 3 boundarys. Yasir Hameed is slowing getting a start getting the singles and rotating the strike.

More updates as the Match progresses.

Pakistan 79/1 at Tea

Shahid Afridi - 50*
Yasir Hameed - 17*

Pakistan take charge as they get closer to Australias total of 132. Pakistan go into tea on 79/1 with Shahid Afridi reaching his 50 from 46 balls. Australia made a early breakthrough during Pakistan's innings which was the wicket of Salman Butt but they hoped they would see the back of Afridi. Ricky ponting introduced Shane warne on the 13th over hoping to get the wicket of Afridi becuase he loves to attack the spinners but the 1st ball Afridi faced he smashed it for 6! after that no one would expect Afridi to play defensivley but he did for the remaining of the over. Pakistan would hope to play out the Day and comeback tomorrow morning with a lead also if they get Afridi back on the field tomorrow would be a extra bonus for Pakistan.

Aussies back in the Game 93/3!!

The wicket the Australians were hoping to get they got! Shahid Afridi missing a straighter one by warne gets bowled! This is a Major breakthrough for the Home Side. Younis Khan who can also play a innings has just got him self run out a misfield by Clarke attempted a run but quick feilding by him just proves the aussies are the worlds best team!

Yousuf Youhana just enters the crease!

Pakistan start to loose the plot! 158/8!!

Australia are right back in this game! they have picked up 4 wickets for just 43 runs. Pakistan lead by 26 runs but with 2 wickets remaining with just under an our for close of play on day 1 Australia are in a strong position. They would most likely get rid of the tail and hope to bat 1st thing tomorrow morning. Asim Kamal is showing some resistance playing some beautiful shots Rana Naved has joined him at the crease. Pakistan would hope to make a little partnership before end of play. But we have certainly seen some Twists and turns in Day one.

Asim Kamal 21*
Rana Naved 3*

McGrath 3-63
Warne 2-20
Clarke 2-16
