You may use any Micro-USB to Male-USB cable. The standard ones used to charge phones would do.

Yeah, you can use the supplied USB cable to play with the controller connected to the PC/Laptop. That's what I do.

Out of curiosity, why don't you try it out instead of asking others to do so? I highly doubt anyone would try this sort of stuff instead of playing the game.
