ANDREW Symonds has declared he has become a game-by-game proposition as he enters the "final chapter" of his international career.

At 33 and on the comeback trail after surgery on his right knee, Symonds is giving no guarantees about his playing future.

Symonds days limited - Cricket - Fox Sports

Don't know what this means for him in the ODI side but when I read it the first thing I thought of was him returning to the ODI side. If he isn't going to be there for the 2011 WC then sadly we have to over look him for youngsters that will be there.

But you can't push players aside because they aren't fortune tellers. Should they ask Warner how long he thinks his career is going to be? They all just want to play for as long as they can. Symonds accepts that at 33, he might have five years, but he might only have one.

We've done it before, hell we did it with Hayden. It's a simple question will he be there for the 2011 WC. Warmer is 22 so not like hes going to suddenly retire bar injury. Same goes for Mike Hussey, Ponting and other guys approaching retiirement. It is in Australia's best interest that players that won't play in the 2011 WC retire and give their replacements enough time to settle in.

Yeah, but there was hardly any chance of Hayden being around for another World Cup. The upside wasn't there, he'd be around for a season at best. It would not be unusual to see Symonds still playing at 35, especially if he returns to being an ODI specialist. Personally, I'd be hoping there is every chance that he can make it, not looking for reasons why he shouldn't.

I wouldn't be surprised if he did play to 35 lots of players are doing it these days. No problem with him being in our ODI side if he wants to play in the 2011 WC and maybe beyond. We just don't want to be given a year or so to find a replacement before the WC cause we have seen in the current ODI series how much of a loss he is and it isn't the easiest to find a replacement for him.

I think most of all what this says is that 2008 was a pretty crappy year for him and he's not feeling like he could last 100 years right now.

even when he gets healthy he shouldn't be in the Aussie team. There are players who deserve it more than he does and who would be of better use than Symonds.

Not bothered, I don't think he is that good and isn't worth the amount of money the IPL give him. I don't think the Australians really miss him when he isn't in the side.

Probably not in Test matches, but I do feel we have missed him in the ODI. We are lacking his acceleration after our good starts. Plus always good to have a good fielder and handy bowler for the ODI arena.

I believe he can get on till the next world cup. But most of all, those psychological damages might have made him feel a little Old, Little early.
