EAUK_Sentience - Site Admin: We took some of your questions, added some of your own, and fired them off to Andrew Wilson, Producer on Cricket 2005. Here are the answers, and if you've got any more questions by all means post them in this thread.

What multiplayer features will the game offer?

Cricket 2005 will offer 2-4 player multiplayer including co-op.

Is it online on any platforms?

Not this time. We really wanted to get the game polished on the new technology first. Online is something that we're looking at for the future though.

Is the FIFA engine being used again like with Rugby 2005?

It sure is. We have had fantastic results with the new technology from EA Canada when it comes to the look of the players, pitch and even the crowd. Combining the experience of the Cricket team with the new technology has been a match made in heaven.

How many teams will there be?

Over 50, as well as a Create a Player feature where you can create full teams of players.

The screenshots look great but have the animations also been improved?

Another big with that we received from the good folks at EA Canada is the use of the state of the art motion capture facility. Cricket 2005 is made up of completely new motion captured animation. Never before has a Cricket game looked so fluid.

How up to date will the stats be?

We were adjusting the stats until the very end - we have just finished. We have put a great deal of work into our stats and each and every player will perform differently depending on their stats. Batsmen will do some things better than others, bowlers will have different deliveries available to them depending on their skill and style and visa versa. Stats will full track through tournaments and tours as you play them.

Now that Cricket is being developed out of EA Canada what benefits has this brought to the game?

One of the biggest benefits is that we now get the experience of Jeremy Wellard, the original chief designer and producer on the Brian Lara/Shane Warne cricket games combined with the best sports technology in the world.

Will a ranking system be included?

There are a number of ranking elements in Cricket 2005.

Will issues from the previous outing such as the test match rain bug and run out bug be resolved this time?

One of the benefits of giving the game a complete technology overhaul was that many issues were resolved by default. Others took a little more work.

How has the AI been improved, in particular the keeper?

The improvements are too long to list, but one thing that I can say is that the wicket keeper will field the ball this time round.

When will a demo be made available?

We'll be looking at doing a demo once the final game is locked down.

What are the main improvements to gameplay this time round?

This would also be a very long list. As discussed above, a new graphics and physics engine (including improved ball physics) plus all new motion capture gives the gameplay a far smoother feel than before. Add to this refinements in batting, bowling and fielding controls as well as new tournaments and Cricket 2005 is set to be the best cricket experience in a video game yet.

Will there be any official bat licenses?

No, not this time round. For 2005 we chose to focus on teams, players and kits.

Does the fielding system use any of the ideas from the smooth fielding in MVP 2005?

Nothing specific comes to mind however we played a lot of MVP to get some ideas.

Will there be a Man of the Match/Season award?

There are man of the match awards and a player of the season award given during tournaments

Will the improved movement include outfielders walking in and the slip fielders taking their stance as the bowler's go for their run up?

Yes, it will indeed.

Can we do a direct throw at the wicket while manually fielding?

Yes, you can choose to throw directly at the stumps.

How many umpire models will be in the game?

There will be two umpire models this time round. The bigger focus was accurately modelling the players.

Will there be a "random" option for selecting a team?

No, there is no random option this time round.

Will the PC version be fully joypad-playable, so you never need to touch a keyboard even in the menu?

The gamepad is only fully functional for controlling the gameplay.

When fielding manually do you have the option to throw on either side of the wicket?

I assume this means which end of the pitch to throw to, and yes you are able to select which end to throw to in manual fielding.

Do different players have different bowling and batting stances?

There are different animations for the different types of bowlers (leg spin, fast, medium and so on).

Will there be rain in One Day Internationals this time?

No there will not. The Duckworth Lewis rule is a complex one. We made a decision this time around to leave this out to appeal to a broader audience of cricket fans who may not know all the intricacies of this rule.

Trying to manipulate the question itself ... if its not there atleast state somewhere in ure f*cking anwer that "sorry this has not been implemented!"

besides NO S*IT AW we kinda know that a fast bowler is not gonna have a leg spinners animation ---> f*ck
