Just for marketing mate , having players of high fame and grade in international cricket gives advantage for the franchise in terms of marketing but not sure how benefitial it is for the team , i dont think he suites well for t20 cricket

Ok, to sum it up so far:
There will be 160 players in the auction. 80 of those will be Bangladeshi and the other half foreign.
So far 123 overseas players have signed up but only 80 will make the cut into the auction.
The players will be categorized into 3 grades in the auction: A, B, and C. All A grade players have a base price of $100,000. B grades have a base price of $50,000, and the Cs start at $25,000.

There are also 6 icon players, one for each team.

The preliminary lists of local and foreign players, who will be available for the players' auction of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), has been released yesterday.

The players' auction will be held on January 19.

The BPL governing body also informed that the updated list and a list of Indian players will be added soon.

This is the best thing about the BPL, from the article:

Alamgir said that the revenue generated by the BPL would be ploughed back into first-class and age-group level cricket in Bangladesh, though the franchises will not have any obligation to develop or have any connection to the divisional sides. "The BCB's policy will be to use this money for longer-version cricket as well as for schools and age-group cricket. It will help us put the regional structure in place.

It's great to see a Cricket board running something like this for a good reason, good on Bangladesh I say. Plenty of good players in that auction list too, especially the unsung ones in the lower levels. Anyone know how many foreign players are allowed in each team?

Its max 9 players per team and 5 in the final XI. I think Nasir Hossain will go for the highest price from domestic and one of Gayle, Afridi, or Pollard for overseas.

I like 5, means the quality should be quite high if the Franchises recruit well. Be good to see how the Bangladeshi players fare against the global stars and the seasoned pros. I can see it being the kind of tournament where a star or two is made.

They have cut down the number of overseas players in the team from 9 to 8. And they have added a new rule:

BPL SQUAD RULES

? Each squad can register a maximum of 18 players.

? A team may sign a maximum of eight (08) available foreign players. It is mandatory to pick atleast one player from an associate member country.

? Each team can field a maximum of five (05) foreign players in the playing XI for each match.
