England need a dream spell from either of Broad or Woakes to comeback into this match.

This is it for Ireland, such a great opportunity to show the world how solid you are. I am shocked to learn Ireland, Afghanistan are not part of Test Championship.

No amount of upsets or shocks seems to shake ICC from their plan of reducing global competitiveness of the sport in any format other than T20s. :facepalm

Also this is what happens when you have 3 different squad of players. I don't get why the ODI/Test sides are sooo different in most teams. I understand T20 as it's basically a joke but I miss the days where the ODI side was the Test side...

I disagree, if anything they need a separate coach for red ball cricket as their ODI mentality seems to be seeping through here. Modern ODIs are quite different from tests and require more varied skills in the first place.

England’s problems are largely self inflicted, it took years of 1000+ runs from Burns before he got a spot in the side and that was because an underperforming Cook finally decided to retire. Any other team would have also played someone like Hildreth who has been bossing it in county cricket for years now, but he is overlooked because of his age. Foakes is another player that has been unfairly shafted, he is the best gloveman in the country and is still not sure of his spot because one of England’s better batsman throws a fit when he doesn’t get to keep because his father was a keeper too.

Spirited effort from Ireland and a sharp wake up call for England. But, I dont think they would be too worried.

Ideal batting conditions for two days now. I dont think Ireland have the bowling skills to really push for a win here. I see England scoring 350-400 in the second innings, and Ireland collapsing and losing by 100 odd runs. Not knocking down Ireland. Its not their fault, but a simple case for lack of experience in the longest format at this level

I think they proved they have the bowling skills, although if the ball and pitch aren't as favourable it could be tough as they lack genuine pace. But I do agree if England can get a 150 lead the Irish batting could struggle.
