Story England's Journey To The ASHES 09 - Natwest Tri-Series: ENG v IND FINAL!

I believe Trecothick has the capability to keep wickets :) So he might be a gud choice if England needs a batter to keep wickets.

But it adds pressure to batsman as keeping is not an easy job... If u miss an ordinary ball from pace bowlers, u fetch 4 byes or if u miss an ordinary catch, u fetch lots of curses for ur team! :)

South Africa v England, 1st ODI - South Africa Innings Highlights!

Conditions & Toss!

Well the conditions are ones for bowling the sun is out so the pitch will be hard which means plenty of bounce also this surface has been known to seam around over the last couple of years so early breakthroughs will lead to collapses, but South Africa are a very dangerous ODI get up so England will need to watch their backs...

England won the toss and elected to bowl first which they havnt been doing much of normally it's win the toss and bat first but this sums up how well the bowling conditions maybe and especially with your swing bowlers, and Vaughan being a very good capitan has certainly not made the wrong choice!

Hall Plays A Brave One!

Anderw Hall was sent into the middle of a disaster with South Africa copllapsing early on he was out there with Gibbs when the score was 84-4 South Africa were way ahead of the runs so they did not need to worry but as we said it was a good toss to win with the ball seaming around like made, leg befor appeals flying around left right and centre luckily non of them given so Hall decided to take the attack to every bowler and he played marvoullesly missing out on his 50 but he has shown he is a capable all rounder for the South African camp and he has given his team a big chance in this 1st ODI especially with the way the pitch is playing it was always going to be a lowish total!

England Bowl In The Right Areas.........For Once!

Well then South Africa started their Innings with some promise and looked to be playing at will and ease but the ticker was getting smaller Smith had 3 LBW appealed against him non were given, but he didnt pay the price early on De Villiers did he was bowled by a beauty from Anderson, it was a lenght ball outside off stump but it nipped back and clattered into the stumps! Smith then went soon after in Flintoffs first over exact mirror of Andersons delievery to get rid of De Villiers and it was two down soon enough, which then became 3 as in the very next over Simmon Jones who is making his return to ODI cricket got another wicket that to of the all dangerous Kalis who was caught by fellow South African...Pietersen, luck didnt favour South Africa today as the Innings went on and wickets went down their hopes were slowly going as Gibbs played one onto the stumps bowled by Freddie, this pitch is making the batsmans defences look very low!

Mystery Man.....Unmasked To Be...

Vikram Solanki who would have thought he hasnt done a bad job either he was one of the boys who was quick and a good fielder in his first burst at England cricket and he has been magically called up to keep wicket and bat but for how long and how long can he last, surley he will have to make his mark so he can get into the test side that should be his plan if it already isnt he has great capabilities and he has shown us that befor...

He didnt get many chances most of the edges flew to slip but he did take the balls nicely and when he did get his very difficult chance he took it, the ball went so low and he managed to scoop it into his gloves, so looks like he can convert his field work into glove work which is truly what you call a all round athlete, and he will be hoping to get a few more catches next time!

England Need 224 Runs To Win!

England should be able to knock these runs down easy :)
SA didn't do to good with the bat, good presentation ;)

Should be quite an easy target for England, well bowled as well. Vikram Solanki was a good choice Punk :D

This is poor batting display from SA... Still i am hoping to see a victory from SA! Pollock & Ntini shd initiate the damge! Com'on SA :)

South Africa vs England, 1st ODI - 25 Over Update!

South Africa Do Early Damage!

South Africa have made early inrodes to give this match some life, they were under pressure at first when the English batsman were going well until Pollock struck and got Strauss plum LBW as we said its a seaming wicket and Strauss miss-read it and was caught straight in front no doubt in anyones mind...

Then Trescothick and Vaughan followed suite both going to genuine edges Trescothick was getting a bit impatiant as the runs dried up and decided to go after one pretty hard but only to nick it to slip who took an amazing diving catch to give his team some hope, he was looking good but has failed to score. Vaughan was pretty much the same looked good but couldnt do too muc damage or get to the opponent to cause them change their game plans he is a nudger so maybe it has turned on him?

Pietersen Making A Good Effort!

England have one good chance of hope and its because Pietersen is at the crease and he is making a very good effort to make the runs flow more freely which is a real good sign for England and for the game is it is interesting to see him face South Africa.

A few drawbacks Collingwood has gone for 17 just as he was finding his feet he threw his wicket away with a poor shot and not to mention Boje has bowled very well so all credit to him, and the moment we have been waiting for Solanki finally makes his return back to the side and he will have to stamp down with Pietersen if they are to win this match!

England Need 130 To Win Off 25 Overs At 5.20 RPO!

I dont think Solanki wud stay more than 12-15 balls.. SA shd aim Pietersen now.. If they get him in next 5-10 Overs, SA shd be able to win this.. Com'on SA :)

South Africa vs England, 1st ODI - Conclusion!

England Stumble Home!

So we all thought that England were going to loose and it nearly happend as Pietersen went for 28 England looked in big trouble and it brought Solanki and Flintoff to the crease Freddie got off the mark with a huge six which went up to the second tier of the stands Solanki on the other hand was starting off slowly as he started find his feet into International cricket he started witht he big shots with a huge 4 off to back foot towards the covers he really stepped it up with Freddie getting to an amazing 50 on his debut back in the team...

Victory Gone Begging...

Well it was all their for South Africa to win they had got to such an amazingly strong position it is a total dissapointment that they have thrown it away and they are to blame maybe some fields werent set right, Freddie Flintoff edged it through the slips on a dozen occations and if there had be a regular catcher there they would have a big chance as the tail would have been exposed totally so the Proteas will need better luck next time as they leave the field distrot..
