I had heard that the BCCI had been moving away from traditional Indian spinning wickets. Is this correct. England has been vulnerable in past against quality spin bowling so will the India brains trust go with dust bowls to assist Ash and Jadeja or grassy tracks to suit their fine pace attack?
I have no idea if this is true, honestly, it probably isn't true and might just be a rumour since our spinners have been key to our victories in the past and letting go of a tried and tested method against a good English side isn't really the time.
As far as I know, India still goes with 3 spinners more often than not, especially against non-subcontinent teams.
I do see a failure waiting to happen if India perseveres with Pant at #6.. He was very lucky against us. Can be reckless and play away from his body. India really needs a specialist, a solid technician in this spot in my view.
I don't know about that, Pant's domestic record in India is pretty stellar with an average of 49.7 at a strike rate of 83, so if he's got going in Australia he might use that momentum to keep going on Indian pitches.
The real problem with Pant, which has to be said clearly, is that he is quite a drop in terms of keeping quality, especially with the standards set by Dhoni.
