I am pretty sure now that Spain will be in the semi-final.

The X-Men where beautiful today. Portugal's mid-field could never get the ball.

I cant see Spain not winning this world cup, once Xavi & Xabi are their to dominate teams in the mid-field battle.

Ronaldo hardly had the ball yesterday. A few chances were created in the first half. A rare attack here and there in the second. But Spain dominated the midfield!

Here is some recent news:

FIFA is going to investigate the spitting of Ronaldo.

Silva is going from Valencia to Manchester City.

Domenech has appeared before the French politicians to explain the exit of France. This is pretty strange. Normally sports and politics should be set apart. FIFA is following this as well.

Queiroz did make a lot of strange decisions through the match. He took off Almeida and brought on Danny and moved Ronaldo up front. Almeida was doing a good job of winning and holding up the ball far down the pitch. When Ronaldo moved up front he was completely isolated and barely touched the ball. Portugal's best chance of winning was by counter attacking down the flanks using the brilliance of Ronaldo as Iniesta was drifting inside and Ramos was moving far down to support.

Spain have a great variety at their disposal with the obviously brilliant playmakers, two of the best strikers in the world (even if one is out of form) and a solid centre back partnership with 3 excellent keepers. They also have width on the bench with Mata and Navas, and the excellent target man of Llorente when needed. Spain have the squad to play to any situation and when they go ahead they never look like conceding again. Iniesta drifting centrally meant that Portugal were outnumbered in midfield and Spain just passed them out.
