I dont think its the same old. Ive seen all the videos about the new game engine and thats what made me buy FIFA07 (you have to admit that game was crap!).

When i bought FIFA08 i was like, wow, this game is awesome. But goals become the same. Just run, keeper comes out about, curve it round him into the same spot, everytime.

FIFA09 will own PES though.

Yes FIFA07 was shite, I had it for 3 days befor returning it. About the same goals, I find what you said funny because the 2 months I played PES08 constantly I found all my goals were running keep comes out and just slot it past him, I get them goals very rarley on FIFA08.

Traded my FIFA in yesterday so I could get Uncharted. It was a toss up between which footy game to get rid of but ultimately, it was PES' more enjoyable online play and beter grasp of a proper football IN MY OPINION that swung my vote.

Aye, it's quality. Gears of War vs Tomb Raider. Having played it at a mate's one of those games I wish I had a PS3 for.

fifa is heaps better on ps3 at xbox 360 this yr but pes still dominates on current gen systems could be a diffrent story tho in the next version konami can do some amazing things

On PC, PES 08 is way better than FIFA 08. Here in Argentina, most of the people love playing winning eleven on ps2, football is a religion lol.

Have you actually played Fifa 08 on a next gen system ? Because if not, you're whole argument falls apart. The current gen versions (including the PC) are useless, just the same old Fifa tripe, but the versions on 360 and PS3 are magnificent games. Obviously there's a few small bugs, but you'd expect that considering EA have re-made the whole game engine for the next gen systems. The goals did seem very scriped in the past few Fifa's, but they're not anything like that anymore. The ball used to just go into certain parts of the goal, but that's now been fixed. If you play the game properly, playing swift passing football you can make some incredibly sexy goals. Fifa's a brilliant game this year. Fact. (;p)

Fifa 09 PC is being built specifically for PC, not ported and there are some industry professionals who have played the PC game at some show or other and they said that the graphics are massively improved, so is the gameplay. In fact, some of them actually preferred the PC version!!

For me, the key is they are making a PC version, not a PC port from the PS2, which is what we're usually saddled with. Therefore, they can make full use of a PC's power, even a low end PC is miles better than a PS2.

Let's hope that all this is true. They've definitely improved the graphics, as for whether these 'industry professionals' are telling us the truth about gameplay, we'll have to wait for the demo!

I only have one question. Is this the first time (in recent years) they've made PC version for PC and not from a port?

MasterBlaster76 added 1 Minutes and 48 Seconds later...

How would you know after playing it for just one day?

It does happen far too often in PES 2008 and it's bloody annoying. (I've had the game for ages).

(Quote was about retarded keepers in PES 2008 and their weak handling, resulting in them bundling the ball into their own net).

MasterBlaster76 added 5 Minutes and 26 Seconds later...

exactly
you dont own the game, so how can you point out its 'apparent' bugs (which you really havnt listed yet)

Your only sticking up for the game you own, because in the back of your mind you are saying "this one has to be the better game, simply because i payed my money for it*

Overall FIFA is the better package, but PES's gameplay is still JUST ahead. I really do expect next year it to be different

Are you talking about the PC version?
I haven't played Fifa 08 PC that much (I've only played the demo a lot - in anticipation of Fifa 09 and I have to say, I'm quite enjoying it). What's the full game like on PC, is it different from the demo?

I think you're being too optimistic about FIFA 09 on PC mate, I hope it's good too but it seems unlikely. If you set your expectations too high then there's more chance that you will get dissapointed. For example, some of us thought BLIC 2007 would be an excellent game after the potential BLIC 2005 had, and then we got a really poor game and were all very dissapointed yet EA's Cricket games have always been so bad that getting another bad version was not such a dissapointment...

From what EA have said:
"The gameplay engine features year-on-year improvements" sounds like it means means it will just be a tweaked version of FIFA 08 on PC, and "year on year improvements" are what they usually say they do every time anyway.

The graphics look good though, this pic is the best though I think:

Very realistic looking Gallas there.

Wow for a second I thought that was really Gallas. Very promising!

Well I too think MasterBlaster76 is expecting too much out of the sick old EA, but from the looks of it, it really does look like PC gamers are in for a treat.

Tell me, its now known that they add a whole new set of controls (I'm not talking about the key changing thing done in FIFA 08 :p ), with a keyboard and mouse, so they might have actually designed the new engine, because adding such things to the older engine takes more time when you do have to make a new engine for graphics anyways.

Quite a lot of reputed websites have said that Graphics in PC are actually better then next - gen, especially the grass textures. The crowd however, is the same old in PC version, so that's one place for dissappoinment - The next gen versions have awesome crowds.

Also, many websites that previewed the game at exhibitions etc. did actually say they preferred PC version's gameply with keyboard and mouse to the same old traditional gamepad play. I don't think it'll be THAT good, but atleast it looks better than the old 4 directional controls on PC. ;)
