Well here we are guys at Sydney with the much awaited final of the cricket world cup between England and Afghanistan
England were clearly the team of the momoment with them winning all the games till now in this world cup
Afghanistan on the other hand were dark horse of the tournament no one would have given them a chance at the start of this tourney to reach so far but their manager narayan had other things in mind and he had made them if not the best the second best bowling side in the tournament
It was expected to be a battle of pace bowlers between England and Afghanistan
Afghanistan won the all important toss and put England into bat
England were high on confidence after their semi batting performance but Afghanistan had other things in mind
woakes fell in the second over and England were reduced to 3/1
ali came to the crease and he was adjudged lbw for 0 score batsman called for review and the call was turned as ball was going down the legside England managed to escape the scare
Afghanistan bowler bowled some brilliant line and length and kept pressure on English batsman reducing England to 57/4
It was upto kp and butler to steer the ship for England now otherwise they were looking really vulnerable to afghan pace bowling
KP and butler put on a nice partnership to take the score to 91/4
at this point afghan introduced Zadran into the attack and he took 2 wickets in an over and England were 6 down
ashram was in his last over of the spell and shook England with 3 wickets in one over
England were reduced from 91/4 to 98 all out before they could even blink an eye
Afghanistan could not have asked for anything more then this and we're almost on the verge of winning an historic world cup for the first time
Chasing 99 Afghanistan came to field
as it is that sometimes low scores are the cheekiest to chase Afghanistan lost a wicket of first wicket to run out
they then started building innings but England never allowed them to score freely and put pressure right on afghan with attacking fields as it was the only way if they had any chance to win this
Afghanistan were cruising at 33 odd for the loss of 2 wickets and England were just not looking like taking wickets when stokes was introduced in the attack
he struck in his first over and that was the start of an epic collapse for afghan
rankin took a hat trick and he along with stokes took afghan from 33/2 to 46 all out
afghan just could not keep up with the pace variations of English bowlers
Afghanistan were so close yet so far and England won the world cup for the first time ever
Afghanistan although lost the game but won the hearts with their performance in the tournament beating many top teams
A low scoring thriller their with England defending 98 runs and winning by 52 runs
The tourney finally comes to an end and England won the cup and remain unbeaten in the tournament

although had a bit of rough time with him during the tourney but it would be criminal not to thank him at this point
