India tour of West Indies Aug-Sept 2019

TBH I don't care whether India wins a big tournament or wins any series or stay no.1 in all 3 formats. I just want them to be a dominant force in Cricket. Trophies don't define dominance to say the least and rankings don't give any insights. And I will be frank here, I loved the way India fought back in the Test series in England after losing at Lord's. And I did love the way they played at Johannesburg in the South Africa Test series on one of the most difficult tracks that one can get. I look for quality and not wins or rankings or trophies.

No wonder you’re happy with Kohli’s current tenure as the captain. :p

Disappointing! Very disappointing! This group of people handling Indian cricket right now are so out of place that it makes it frustrating to follow Indian cricket. Again Pant at No. 4 and again Kedar Jadhav who struggles but yet is asked to play in those slog overs. Why couldn't we use this opportunity to blood Shubman Gill and give him games, is beyond me? If we really needed a batsman who could bowl a bit, we could have picked Krunal Pandya or Deepak Hooda.

With this mindset and approach, India will not win in 2023 also. With our talent, we will top league stages and make the knockouts easily. But in a pressure game, our approach will ensure that we will most likely fall short. Well that wont rattle us coz we will bring up our win percentage and keep our jobs

Happy with Iyer's knock but will he get a steady run now? I hope but I cant say it with confidence.

This is not the first time Iyer has done a job. Do you and I know why he was dropped after SA? I don't. He is also a leader.

I just want to know one thing and state one thing- I want to know what Rahul did so wrong to not deserve a chance in the middle order? If the argument is that he is an opener then OK but then it cannot be that this management was right both times. They were either wrong at the WC or wrong now. I hope they at least stick with Iyer now and at 4 not 5.

And seeing the attitude of this management in the 3rd T20I, I get the feeling that Kohli wants India to be no.1 in all formats and then when we get kicked out of an ICC event, this guy can brag about this crap.

Umm.... Isn't that the Aussies used to think the same ? The result was they dominated the world. In one of the episodes of Breakfast with Champions, Rohit Sharma spoke about the obsession of Indian fans with the trophy and he went on to say that; "It's just a title given to trophy. For us it's just a trophy. Anyone wins it doesn't matter because everyone out there wants to give their best. For us playing for the nation and contributing towards it matters the most."

Please do watch it for once if you don't believe me.

And believe me I am one of the most frustrated fans of Kohli's Captaincy. He has got the quality but because of some errors he committed, he is not getting the results because of which media makes up a lot of issue out of it. Believe me it's not that big a thing to lose a Cricket match because everyone is out there to win. Can we be a bit more sportive and be equally appreciative towards the opponent ? But that won't mean that I am saying don't criticize the team despite their failures. Yes do criticize them but with a supportive logical reasoning.

If winning big tournaments and important series and staying no.1 doesn't define dominance, then what does?

When people recall the dominant era of Aussies the first few things that they remember are the number of world cups they won, their unbeaten runs in ODI and Test cricket (attained by winning series after series) and their record in overseas Tests

Winning the dead rubber in an overseas Test series (which is what we did against SA) is not being dominant by any measure

Just ask any Aussie fan that for them is winning the WC the only sign of dominance they see ?

Maybe read my post clearly :) I did not say 'only world cup wins matter"

For me the term dominance means fighting till the end and not letting the opposition win before they do. For me dominance means no matter the difficult circumstances you go out there to win. For me it's getting a move on from a loss and try the best to win.[DOUBLEPOST=1565611389][/DOUBLEPOST]

First answer my question. Is it like that ? Then I will come to the other points. Yes I did read about ODI and Test and all that.

That's sounds like the opening line of a book title "second place ain't too bad"

I dont know how you can be dominant with no silverware or rankings or overseas win to show for it. History will not remember you for the games you almost won ! You dont get a medal for "trying to win". If you did, then winning wouldn't have any value

Fact remains, in the last 4 international level knockouts, we have fizzled out in identical fashions and due to a plethora of issues - team selection, no4 troubles, poor captaincy, etc.

We have the best team currently but Kohli has nothing to show for it.

But history still remembers Sourav Ganguly as the greatest leader of Indian Cricket.

Ganguly's stature goes beyond silverware. Because he was a true leader and built the foundation of multiple generations of Indian cricket after taking up the mantle during our darkest times.

MSD has enough silverware to last a lifetime

Kohli has no such thing to his credit. He has been gifted with the fruits of hard work done by his predecessors, and is still unable to make a mark as a captain.

Okay tell me one thing. What special do you see in this Indian side that you think they have the ability to win all tournaments they play ?

Do we have fast bowlers consistently bowling 150kph ? Do we have a strong middle order ? Do we have clever spin bowlers ?

Australian side of 2000s had all of these in Lee, Ponting, Martyn, Symonds, Bevan, Clarke. And that helped them to win those WCs. For Australia a WC is just a bonus for the number of matches they won.

Also ignored talents like Gautam Gambhir, Hemang Badani, etc. It was rather the Indian team to be fortunate to have best blend of players together. You are saying as if Ganguly taught players like Yuvraj Singh how to hold a bat ? :lol

Also tell me why the same person comes out and says it 100 times that Kohli is like me.

1. We have an arsenal of fast bowlers which we have NEVER had so far in the history of our game. Not just containers, but multiple wicket takers. They are the reason we have been able to compete and get to the knockouts
2. We have the best top-3 batsmen in the WORLD
3. We have our spin twins who can wreak havoc in the middle overs during times when, and no other team posses such quality

We should be winning World cups and trophies left right center. But our team management and captain has crippled our abilities with shoddy selection, misreading of conditions repeatedly and lets not even get into the whole no 4 disaster.

We should be winning overseas against the best teams because for the first time, we have a bowling line up which can take 20 wickets. Instead we continue to just "compete".

And ALL of this would still be acceptable to me as a dedicated FAN of Indian cricket. But then to top it off, we have Laurel-Hardy combo of Shastri and Kohli giving bull$hit statements about how we are no.1 in the world and misquoting history of Indian cricket just to massage their egos and live in their bubble instead of addressing critical issues which can get us over the line
