S.G : Hello and welcome to the " Fourth Umpire " for the detailed analysis of the Grand finals match between India and NewZealand, which was once again ended as a thriller with Marshall again doing it for Kiwis. Also, we have our expert anaylst, Mr. Geoffrey Boycott with us to discuss the things that happened today.

S.G : Good evening Geoffrey So all the actions of this series ended finally... Your opinions to start with??

G.B : Well, just in one sentence, " NewZealand played a better cricket than India Today!"

Completely not satisfied with Indian performance today.. Batting was not upto the expectations.. Once again Indian team did have to depend on Tendulkar! Without those quick start & quick end from him, I dont think India wud have reached 150 which is supposed to be a poor display especially in this big finals!

S.G : Don't you think that its just a bowler's day rather than batsmen's day! NZ batsmen also struggled to equal extent.

G.B : OfCourse, Kiwi bowlers were excellent in line & length. But the promising attitude to bat was missing in batting for India. It seemed that they went into negative attitude after seeing the bowling track. None of the batsmen except Tendulkar seemed to be comfortable for India.

S.G : But the pressure on India was massive when Sachin got injured?

G.B : But still... They failed to do the regular rotation of strikes when Yuvraj & Dravid & Dhoni were batting.. They were picking runs by running but failed to keep the scorecard moving at faster rate.. which Marshall & Oram did well!

Infact Marshall & Oram were in deep trouble with 90/5 but the singles at regular intervals kept on moving the scorecard at good rate. Such a promising attitude was missing in Indian middle order today.

S.G : Yeah there was bit slow in run rate! Ok,How do u rate the bowlers today?

G.B : Bond, Mills, Franklin and Sreesanth bowled extremely well.

S.G : Also, Bond was mainly responsible for sending back Tendulkar This initiated the pressure after which Indians slowed down.

Also, we have hawkeye for Bond's bowling and this is how it looks,

G.B : There you can see, He was smashed for runs in poor deliveries where those two came to the bat very well. But he was often attempting short pitched deliveries that troubled the batsmen most of the times. Infact Sachin got hurt in one of those short pitched deliveries. Sreesanth was the only Indian bowler who looked threatening right from the start.

S.G : Yes Geoferry, Sreesanth had an impressive spells except in last overs where he was smashed by Marshall.

G.B : That was becos, he was trying to overdo the normal things. If he had bowled an ordinary middle stump line, runs wud have been contained in last over but he was depending on his pace in that last over which resulted in some poor deliveries in later part of his spell.

S.G : And this is how, Sreesanth's hawkeye looks,

G.B : Like Bond, Sreesanth was also succeeded in short pitched deliveries. He was looking very dangerous with new ball. Especially that Astle's LBW was an excellent delivery.

S.G : Yes, that was a beauty! Sreesanth was getting that marginal movement which Kiwi bowlers got.

G.B : Yes, this was the main difference between Sreesanth and Pathan & Agarkar. The latter got no much movements which Sree got & Infact Pathan was struggling.

S.G : Actually, that was bit suprise becos, Franklin is also an left hand bowler but he was bowling extremely well while Pathan was not getting the things right.

Franklin also got three wickets & this is how it looks,

G.B : Thats impressive infact becos Franklin was denying the width most of the times & that made the scoring tough for the batsmen.. Whereas Pathan ended in offering the width where batsmen put it away with ease.

S.G : This problem of Pathan continues. As there is no much speed for Pathan now a days, he must maintain that strict line & length and also the movement was missing which is also needed.

G.B : Yes, especially with SA tour ahead where conditions wud favour those types u mentioned.

S.G : So far we were just talking about the pace bowlers.. but wasn't spinners expected to be effective today?

G.B : I also thought like that but the pacemen had nice time today than spinners. Kumble,Harbhajan and Vettori didn't have that much nice time but they did bowl good though

The main thing was, when the spinners came into bowl for both the teams, both the teams were under pressure & batsmen were trying to survive which denied many wickets for spinners!

S.G :And finally about Marshall?

G.B : He was once again the hero for Kiwis. It was similar to the way he performed against Lankans. There he had Styris and today he had Oram as partner... Apart from this, his maturity remained the same. It was excellent performance from him :hpraise

S.G : Thats right Geoffrey... Marshall played a major role with Oram to rescue Kiwis from Crisis.

S.G : Ok Geoffrey, its time for the special segments now.. But before that, we wud take a short break and continue with the special segments

S.G : Welcome back after the short break and lets start with the special segments now.

G.B : I guess, those selections are going to be close

S.G : Ok, lets start with Master blaster of the day... Well, there was no actually dominating batting today.. but we did see some good performances from Tendulkar and Marshall...

And its Marshall, our Master blaster of the day with those dangerous 4 sixes which changed the direction of the game!

G.B : He went wild in later part of the innings proving the old sayings, " Calm before Storm "

S.G : :laugh Yes, without those 4 sixes, Kiwis wud have been under massive pressure!

G.B :Especially against Sehwag is the turning point which initiated the threat of Kiwis to India. And hence its rightly called as Master Blaster of the day.

S.G :Now, its next segment.. Safe hands of the day.. The fielding was better display from Kiwis. McCullum had a great start of the day with amazing catch. But Our Safe hands goes to Franklin who made an amazing dive after bowling to take an superb catch!

G.B : Yes, thats tough for a fast bowler to take such a return catch and without any doubts, its rightly called Safe hands.. One of the amazing and the toughest return catch by a bowler

S.G : Now coming to the last segment, Super Moment of the day!

Its Sachin injury which brought all sorts of trouble to Indian scoring. Tendulkar was going at an amazing rate with boundaries against Bond but his injury at that stage applied an massive pressure on India & slowed down the scoring rate.. So, Tendulkar's injury is our super moment of the day which is the turning point for Kiwis!

G.B :If he had stayed, definitely India wud have gone 270+ becos of the form he has been in this tournament so far.. Two back to back centuries and now inspite of being injured, he managed to scor 46! Thats Tendulkar we expect to see.. i.e dominating the bowlers!His injury was like applying brakes to his domination temporarily & hence its super moment for Kiwis atleast

S.G : So Geoffrey, we are coming to end of this show... As usual, final words from u?

G.B : Today, though it was a thriller, Kiwis clearly dominated.

For India, they shd be little matured to handle the pressure situations. It happened in WC03 finals where they got bit nervous there.. and now in this big tournament, where inspite of coming back by taking 5 wickets in first 20 Overs, they let the game slip from their hands. Some works need to be done to improve the mental toughness before SouthAfrican tour where the conditions might be tough for them.

For Kiwis, The bowlers once again proved to be the key for their team. This time, all the frontline bowlers striked. Batting.. as usual.. Top Order collapsed. But they were lucky enough to come back ith Marshall. The performance of Kiwis was excellent through out this tournament under Fleming's captaincy.. Gud Luck Kiwis for the bright future series

R.S : Hello and Welcome to the Presentation ceremony for the Champions Trophy Finals between India and NewZealand where Kiwis managed to win in the end. Marshall once again played a crucial role in the victory!

R.S : Ok, now lets get into the match presentation straight away... Firstly, I like to call, Mr.Dravid, who had a tough day, to come up on the stage please to have few words with us please....

R.S : Well Dravid, tough luck today! Your opinions on this match?

Yes, it was hard day for us.. Our batting was not upto the expectations. 210 is always not going to be enough in a Grand Finals like this. After that, our blowers did well actually, but it was better cricket played by NewZealand in the end.

R.S : So, Next series is in SouthAfrica where the conditions are going to be entirely different.. Ur opinions?

So far, we have not yet planned for that.. We have to wait for team selection and start preparing soon. The conditions are going to be bit tough than here but hoping to perform well there too. We have done well in this series after hard DLF cup & we have learnt a lot from this series too.. So the challenging contest ahead as its never going to be easy to play SouthAfricans in their home ground!

It was tough to decide between the bowlers & batsmen.. & today's MOTM is Marshall for his splending performance on tough bowling conditions & also rescued his team from deep trouble. Marshall, can u come up & have few words with us please...

R.S : It was an fantastic knock today.. How were the conditions u went into bat?

Thanks.. Yeah.. the pitch was offering some movements to the bowlers. It was tough for the new batsmen to settle in & myself and Jacob made a decision to take time to settle first and then look for accelerating the scorecard. Its fortunate that it worked as we expected. After settling in, it became bit easy to bat!

R.S : In one stage Kiwis were 90/5 with half of the side in dressing room.. Did u think that u can make it at that time?

Actually, when Oram came in, we made a decision to be watchful & not to throw away the wicket as we were the last recognised batting pairs. At each stage, we had a small target ahead of us and thus moved on.. Finally we did take few risks but it ended well in the end!

Yeah, feeling much better now.. Its just a minor injury! Its well recovered now

R.S : Thats good news to hear especially before the selection for next series. So you had a splendid tournament so far.. Whats ur view on it?

Yes, it was good to be in finals. The batting in previous games were much easier than today due to different track conditions. But we did well in this series & it was just a narrow margin we missed it today!

Yes its very great to win this.. especially winning India in Indian conditions is tough one for us.. The main credits to our bowlers & Marshall who played a vital role with support from Vettori & Oram in batting! Overall, it was a team's effort to win this!

R.S : So Whats ur next project?

We have tough series coming up especially playing Aussies and then WCup is soon coming.. So this victory wud definitely boost all our confidence and hope to perform well in those too!
