It's still a strong squad but it'll give the Zimbabweans more of a chance of actually winning a game.

Nice to see Sandeep Sharma there. Hopefully he gets into the XI ahead of Bhuvi. Tbh this squad is much better than the one that played against Bangladesh. Just because I think these guys will have that intensity to do well. Vijay, Rayudu, Jadhav, Uthappa and Pandey will all want to perform.

I was expecting a line-up of medium pacers as soon as Dhoni criticized Umesh Yadav's bowling after that Bangladesh series. None of the bowlers selected in the squad can bowl over 140 which is a concern because we need at least one bowler like that in the ODI's. This series will be very crucial for Bhuvneshwar Kumar. I don't see that zip in his bowling anymore which made him so effective with the new ball. He does not take any wickets with new ball and that is where we have struggled. I am also confused about where will Rahane bat. For me, he needs to open the inning if he wants to keep his place in ODI. He just isn't a good number 4 player. It is very disappointing to see that a player of his class struggles to rotate the strike at number 4. I still don't understand the obsession with selecting Murli Vijay in ODI's. Leave him alone for test cricket because he is doing well there. Don't bring him back for ODI's. Also there is no specialist keep selected for the tour. None of Uthappa, Jadhav and Raydu are good enough keepers.

It's sad to see the treatment being dished to Rahane over his rotation of strike. We shunned a perfectly good Test batsman, Pujara, for the apple-of-our-eyes player Rohit and it looks like Rahane might be losing favor thanks to this strange desperate requirement to play Rohit as an opener.

Which leads us to the question - where should Jinks bat in this series. If he succeeds as an opener will he be given a go at the opening spot over Rohit? Or does the management want him to prove himself at no. 4 again and failures at that position could see him warming the benches -

the rotation of strike dilemma pretty much destroyed Gambhir's career since he developed that poke outside off just for that purpose. Would be sad to see a class act like Rahane lose out due to this silliness. Good luck to him.

I am not a big fan of sending a weakened side to Zim.

India already lost to B'desh, and then if it is followed by a defeat to Zim as well, (which a weakened side makes more likely to happen), it would have been a hell of a start post the WC.
