What I need to know is...What exactly counts towards your Internet Downloads limit per month?

I know that the obvious ones are downloads you get from downloading Music and Videos - but what else effects you download usage?

I've heard that watching Youtube videos and other streamings affect it as well? Is this true and does it take heaps?

And what else affects the usage?

Cheers for the help:onpc

Everything. Downloading is anything that comes into your computer from the Internet, so even just loading a website will count. There is no differentiation between things you "download" and things you view immediately. If you have Telstra even things you upload (for example putting something on youtube, posting something to Planet Cricket) are counted towards the limit.

As for YouTube it will use about 2mb a minute (of viewing videos).

Everything U Do On The Net... Be It Checking Your Email, To Surfing The Web, To Downloading Anything Will Count Towards Your Web Usage...

Any data received from the internet counts towards your download usage. Even while opening a website in your browser you are downloading data. The data downloaded while browsing a website depends upon the images, flash etc in the page. Watching videos from any website obviously counts towards your usage.

Farout! I didnt know this! Man, I needa stop watching so much Youtube then! Thanks for clarifying this - I need to watch what I do from now on - I only have a 6 gig limit!

Hey ppl, what the difference between a download and an upload ?

download is what "comes" to your computer
upload is what "goes" from your computer...
in simple terms, u can think of it as email...
all incoming mail are the downloads, all outgoing are the upload...

Download is data received whereas Upload is data sent. For example when you attach a file from your PC to an email. The file is uploaded to the server. Whereas when you open an attachment your browser or mail client downloads the data to your PC before displaying it.

You should survive on 6gigs if you just watch Youtube. If you're downloading a large files on the range of 200 MB-1.5 GB, you will run into trouble quickly. I survive on 1.25 gigs a month when I'm at home, and I download the occasional 200meg file and share the connection with the rest of my family.

Anything you do on the Internet will count. it can be browsing web-sites or download softwares/games/music etc.

If you don't want to waste money for this ask your Internet Provider for a unlimited plan in which you will only have to pay the monthly rent and thats it no other charges.

How do you do that? Man, we have already used like 400megs of our monthly limit - and we havent even downloaded 1 thing...1 thing!

I have a in 1 GB limit, although I have night unlimited usage. I think 400 MB is normal, 300 MB has been used up this month from my account just for browsing.

I think i'm on unlimited, on Orange Broadband which is wireless and free just for having an orange phone. How cool is that?

Pretty damn cool. I think I need to upgrade - which I did last month, but the price for the next package up is so dear, so you guys might not see me as much on here lol from now on!

....Doubt it:p
