New Screenshots and Preview

If u say richie benaud sucks. Some people like Andrew would argue that he is the best.

May be he is the best. But he is too old and slow, which puts me to sleep.

BLIC has better commentators.I'm happy atlast.

one more thing...guyzz did u see the players' stomach in the screen shots...their like so skinny... and the graphic is not good as I expected... any way I think they are goina make it better and realistic. Hope!!!!.. And the preview was good...

from everything we've been told so far I think it looks fantastic, I didn't really know about all the failed promises in cricket 2004 so maybe i'm being a bit naive but it just looks like codemasters care a lot more about this game than ea did, probably reflects the fact that cricket in general is a lot more popular and therefore will sell better

Well the reason why I thought EA didn't care much about cricket 04 is that at the time it was released, it was the only cricket game and had no competition so EA might have thought that why put everything in it, no matter what, cricket fans would buy it. But now they know that they've got serious competition so in that case, we'll be treated with 2 good games if not great or may be atleast one. Thats what Im hoping for.

totally agree, additionally, even although it was a long time ago the first BLC was a fantastic game for it's time so on that example it seems nothing but good vibes for this game :)

Well I give the screenies a thumbs up at this stage. They've still got 4 and a half months to polish it up and add a few items that are lacking. I'm prepared to sacrifice ultra smooth graphics for gameplay every time.

As long as the game really does play like a cricket game, I'm happy. If the wicketkeeper allows 50 byes, or the CPU runs itself out all the time, or the batsmen uppishly drives the ball for a catch at mid-on/mid-off 10 times a game, then I may just throw my monitor out the window :mad

It'll be all good.

The graphics don't seem to be all that spectacular. Perhaps they're not tweaked properly and maybe PS2 jaggies. However, if the gameplay is good, then it'll be splendid.

This is part of what Rubbergenius said about the magazine article (taken from the Codemasters forums):

And if you think the main image screenshot looks a bit iffy, so do we. The picture editor there must have blown the picture up to way too big a size, makes it looks like it's a PS1 game!

I think graphics are not good so far but its still early days.. i expect codemasters to have excellent graphics as they had in BLC... so i think codemasters will take Ea down as in ea richie benaud sucks.... codemasters are limited to international squad game so i hope and strongly believe that this one will be awesome.... atleast better than EA..by far

Well Richie Benaud is one of the finest commentators of all times. You cant hold him responsible for the commentary in Cricket 2004. Its yet again the fault of EA and HB who have messed up and mixed up the audio files terribly. Also the fact that Richie has been in the game since Cricket 96, it is very natural to ask for a change. But in real life, the man is simply awesome! :clap :clap :hpraise

i think codies have some idea in mnd and that is ps3 is coming out in like maybe mid of 2006 or maybe later and xbox 2 is coming out so they might have a big plan to release a good game better than this one before world cup 07 or rite after world cup 07 in ps3 xbox2 and maybe gamcube 2 and pc thats wht i think maybe a big big idea in mind
