I also have my reservations - having been disappointed with Cricket 2004 and getting no comment from Codemasters about the CPU batting and bowling AI, specifically chasing and defending scores.
The features certainly seem good but what can one do with all the features when there is no competition from the CPU after playing for a month or two.
Without patchmakers, we would all have suffered a lot. With their help, we were able to do at least play the game for a while. But, if the basic design is flawed, there is only so much that anyone can do. So, I certainly will not be the one to buy the game very early (like I did for Cricket 2004).
