New Screenshots and Preview

I also have my reservations - having been disappointed with Cricket 2004 and getting no comment from Codemasters about the CPU batting and bowling AI, specifically chasing and defending scores.

The features certainly seem good but what can one do with all the features when there is no competition from the CPU after playing for a month or two.

Without patchmakers, we would all have suffered a lot. With their help, we were able to do at least play the game for a while. But, if the basic design is flawed, there is only so much that anyone can do. So, I certainly will not be the one to buy the game very early (like I did for Cricket 2004).

It says they want to be the PES of cricket so i guess graphics aren't on top of their list. The graphics in the screenshots are good enough for me so it just comes down to the gameplay now. It will be useless if it had excellent graphics and poor gameplay.

Does anybody actually know what "work in progress" or "the game was at a very early stage" means?

I dont think you can expect a "complete change" from what you see now. It'll be an improvement on what you see now.
I have seen a lot of "pre-beta" release graphics from many games in the past with promises of major improvements for the full release of the game. Every time I have been disappointed when the actual release graphics are not that much better.

However, What makes the game for me is the gameplay, no matter how good or bad the graphics. Take for example, Geoff Crammond's Grand Prix series. There have always been graphically superior motor racing games available - even since "Revs" appeared for the BBC micro! There has never been a driving game / sim that has been remotely close to Geoff's releases in terms of drivability and playability. The graphics do not determine the longevity of a game. If the gameplay of BLC is good, even if the graphics are as "cartoony" as seen in the screen shots (for example, the slip fielder looks as if he is about to adopt the "French Lavatory squat"), the game will be worth buying. If the gameplay is on a par with the current screens, roll on EA cricket 2K6.

Yea the graphics dont look the best, but they arent exactly alot worse than cricket 2004. Remember their last effort at a cricket game which wasnt a bad attempt really. Im going to stick my nose out like a coke head waiting for his next line and say Brian Lara Cricket will be a good game.

Man still disappointment the graphics ain't bettter anyway its work in progress. I like the preview.

i think the graphics look better on the screenshots on the website. the game looks good too

what i think is ea gonna beat coddies easy by making new stuff like womens team two or three kits to choose from like we see in other ea games like nba live madden and may make a street stuff or a whole game on stree cricket street but the graphics looks ok specially indian kit look little weired but if u think carefully this happens alot in the tv or magzine or web site or even in the game cover the graphics looks good but when u play u get a bit angry and nervous ahh i made a big mistake oh no lol
we never no ea but what i think again is codies might win the battle because ea dont care about much of the uk made games based on uk and few other countries as i see rugby 2004 here was cheap 29$ when it was out

By seeing the screenshots and preview the game looks............................................... wonderful .Waiting for the pc-game release.

Well the game looks good to me. You gotta give it to Codemasters even if the game isn't the bestone coz its their first try at cricket after 6 long years and if they put all those features that they've promised to, i think it'll be a great game, atleast better than C2k4 for me.

It says they want to be the PES of cricket so i guess graphics aren't on top of their list.

I always liked the graphics of PES than fifa. But thats just my opinion.

graphics are far below than ea but still the gameplay is more important if it has several ball types like nice swing for faster bowlers then it will be more interesting

Any how we can keep the fingers crossed

Some of you guys need to get over the graphics already! Saying a game is crap cause it doesn't look great is a bit premature - it looks fine to me... people saying cricket 2004 looked better, are you on the same planet? Cricket 2004 looked horrible - not to mention played awfully too.

Choose you angle of approach

this sound interesting..means lots of variation. In the end things like these will stand out than just good looking graphics.

Totally agree. All you Ntini lovers out there will be happy.

Graphics

I think graphics are not good so far but its still early days.. i expect codemasters to have excellent graphics as they had in BLC... so i think codemasters will take Ea down as in ea richie benaud sucks.... codemasters are limited to international squad game so i hope and strongly believe that this one will be awesome.... atleast better than EA..by far
