Pakistan vs. England in UAE (2 T20s)

Well Afridi's brief stint at the crease comes to an end, don't know why do the Pakis depend a lot on him.

He is the only decent player in that squad
There is no Kamran Akmal (good T20 player)
Mohammad Asif
Mohammad Amir
Misbah Ul Haq (good in T20s)
Shahzaib Hasan

Because on his day, he's simply brilliant.

Yes, but take a look at his ODI stats - over 290 games with an average of less than 25 isn't very good.He simply hasn't performed up to his calibre.

I was talking about him in general, not regarding this match.

Depends how you look at it. Batting wise, Afridi has never been in the side to bat 50 overs to get a 100. He's there to score quickly and win games, which he has done and he is more than capable of. Nowadays he's even a World Class bowler, with the batting as a bonus, and he still wins games with the bat. He could blaze a quick 20 off 10 balls to help win a game, but it won't make his stats look great. Stats don't tell you everything.

I am not doubting his ability in anyway, it's just that he hasn't been consistent in any format of the game.He might be there to score quickly and win games, but as a senior player in the team he should try to stay at the wicket more often and score runs. He might score runs in double quick time, but what Pakistan needs right now is for someone to score a hundred. They've got plenty of players down the order to score quickly eg:- Razzaq.

But I'm saying that his role in the team isn't to score mountains of runs over plenty of deliveries. Once they get their strongest One Day team out there (Umar Akmal, Yousef and Younis) he still won't be needed to score 100s, they'll want him to score quickly down the order. It's the problem with that sort of role, the stats don't always look great. Even when he opened he was told to give it a bash, so again, the stats go down, but it's worth it for the 1 in 10 games that he wins on his own.

I'd say also that his batting has been consistant in Tests.

Now that was a bad ball from Shahzad. keep it simple, full and straight. And what kind of fielding is that? No need whatsoever.

EDIT: All over. Great batting by Razzak but really England have thrown that away.

That leg break slower ball is just so easy to pick out of the hand, that was the problem.

There we go. Bad ovet from Shahzad when it was needed

Well they played their best XI down under in Australia but none of them stood up to the plate to score atleast 1 century. He has been consistent in the test arena but his last test was way back in 2006.He definitely scored quickly in Australia but didn't win any of the games for them.

Great all round performance from Razzaq definitely the man of the match.
