Was a great day for us and indeed a great victory for our team:) Freddie and Innes bowled brilliantly and I had a nice opening partnership with Suren. Tom batted nicely as well. Nice story, nice presentation and gr8 graphics :)

Another day of cricket and waking up with a sore back and arms is not the way to start a day. We are traveling for about 20 minutes to get to the stadium today and South Edinburgh should be an easy opponent. They are a weak side I have heard and I am looking forward to trying to avenge my duck yesterday with a good innings.

Suren was down in the breakfast room and said the side was unchanged in both players and batting order. Rameez was still feeling slightly unfit and there was no point in changing a winning side. I was happy to have another go at batting 3 although Suren said I may not get a bowl as Edinburgh are weaker and he wants to give the other spinners a go so I can focus on my batting. I was happy with the conversation and so had 100% focus on batting. With Laser Quest tonight I am looking forward to a good days cricket and a hopefully enjoyable evening.

We arrive and this time Suren manages to win the toss. The pitch is slow and green and with the weather being damp he makes a simple decision to bowl. Today is going to be about surviving on a tough batting track and to get a total of 200+ the batters are going to have to play sensible yet solid cricket.

Lunch and an awesome bowling performance, Rossco and Sarvesh both bowled good tight lines and although the openers played well they were struggling when they scored only 16 runs from 10 overs for 0 wickets. When the top three batsmen went with the score under 100 the middle and lower order collapsed without a fight and only four bowlers got to have a go. Rossco and Sarvesh took 3 and 2 wickets respectively to cut a hole in the Edinburgh line up and give us an awesome base. On top of this Chinaman Ross Burden bowled awesome getting flight, turn and dip to pick up 2 wickets and luring Apip their strongest batsmen and half century maker out of his crease and then getting him stumped with some great work by Matt Baker behind the stumps. The final wicket taker was innes who picked up two wickets and bowled well again. He was assaulted by most batsmen in his 10 overs and although most probably the weakest bowler he still picked up two wickets.

With Edinburgh making only 161 and only 4 bowlers bowling I was looking forward
to getting a good bat. Suren seemed to be happy through lunch and obviously he thought we had already won the game but still wanted to make sure we didn?t lose too many wickets. Over lunch Ross Burden seemed the most happy of everyone and after a poor bowling display in the first game I think he was glad to get a few wickets. During lunch I padded up early and went over to the nets. Innes and Rameez came over and chucked me a few and Rameez even managed to throw down a few spinners and looked much more able and confident for the next game.

So once again Suren, Sarvesh, Tom Carr and I all in the changing room getting our gear on. Suren was saying that we had to be careful, watch the ball and make sure we did not do anything stupid. So when Sarvesh and Suren went out to bat we need under 3.75 an over and after seeing their bowling attack my expectations of the standard of their batting was not high.

Another opening partnership of class from Suren and Sarvesh chasing only 161 we were 152-1 when Suren eventually was bowled for an awesome 72 by their spinner Apip. The strength of their bowling was not high and the two opening batsmen played another awesome game to push through and conquer with 152 partnership. I was happy for them once again to do so well although it meant I only got to face 10 balls and scored 6 runs.

So with a simple victory under our belts and once again Suren and Sarvesh making 50+ each and 100+ opening partnership we went through our first two games without much trouble. Innes had a smile on his face and although connor didn?t get either a bowl or a bat I think he was happy with how the day went and was smiling on the way back to the hotel

So with a good win under our belts Louis told us to get ready to leave for Laser Quest at 8 PM. We set off and were told to split into two teams. Suren being the leader of the side decided to split us into two teams. The sides were

Team 1

Suren
Sarvesh
Tom Baker
Connor Rawlings
Ross Burden
Rameez

Team 2

Tom Carr
Innes Ridley
Freddie Seccombe
Arslaan Khalid
Kieren Temprell
Rossco Mathers

So with the teams outlined and split into RED and BLUE respectively we went out for an hour and a half running around a dark inside arena shooting at each other with laser guns. It was an awesome evening of entertainment and overall Team Blue (2) won. Kieren Temprell won the best player of the evening and Rameez won best effort. The blooper awards went to Tom Baker for ?worst shot? and Suren for ?highest effort lowest result award?. Overall an awesome day and I am pumped for the next days. All disappointment of not getting a good knock is gone and my head is held high as we head back to the hotel.

Monday 22nd August

Today I woke up feeling good and revitalized. I was wide awake in a few minutes and decided to head down to breakfast. When I got down there only a few people were up. Suren was sitting opposite Louis the team coach talking at a fast pace about what I can only imagine to be cricket. I defiantly didn?t want to be in this conversation so decided to head over to the other table which had Matt Baker and Innes sitting at it.

I went over and we had a chat about the last game and about the Nairn game tomorrow. Matt seemed confident and I trusted his word when he said Edinburgh had beaten Nairn on the first day of the comp. I also trusted his word when he said the Germany National Side destroyed Southern Highlands by 158 runs racking up over 300 for only 2 wickets. This did bring to my attention that we were playing them in a few days and I was really out of form. Matt comforted me and Innes reminded me of how many runs I had scored in school cricket. I was happy with the confidence and before long the whole team was down at breakfast and getting ready to go bowling.

So a solid day of bowling and a good fun time, we found out two serious things. First Tom Carr is possibly the best bowler I have seen. He got plenty of strikes and team blue (2) won the game once again. Rossco was not bad and I was awful. Ross Burden was possibly the worst bowler I have seen in my life and Suren almost exploded when he missed all 10 pins for the third time in a row.

An awesome day and there is some real team spirit here as we are still unbeaten. Everyone seems ready for the game against Nairn side tomorrow and I am just hoping for a good nights sleep.
