Yuvraj not experienced enough for captaincy?? He's been around for ages. I think around 7 years in International cricket now. If he's not ready now, he'll never be ready.

I personally think he's ready for captaincy. He will be dynamic and maybe captaincy might actually help his Test career.

I would go for Yuvraj over Dhoni. I would go for Kaif over Yuvraj but it seems Kaif has to do outperform everyone on his team to make the Test berth.

Laxman can captain in Tests only. He won't be around in 2011, but that won't matter if Dhoni is ODI captain. Laxman has leadership experience according to Cricinfo, and does have a good head on hsi shoulders. And all he does is bat and field at slip, so he can be captain.

Dhoni would be very good as ODI captain in my opinion. He could give up ODI keeping, and let Karthik do it. And he can even work on his medium pace! With his arms, he could jog in off 7 paces and bowl a 85 MPH yorker :p But he seriously does bowl in the nets and was about to bowl in the bowl-out, so he could work on that and be a pure batsman and captain. I was impressed by his field placements last night and the way he stayed calm and took his time setting the field and how he got the bowlers and fielders involved. And the captaincy affected his keeping and batting positively. He could be up to it, it would be a good role for him. ODI captain.

I'm still backing Kaif though.

Kaif will perform. He reminds me of Nasser Hussain, solid batsman and skipper, but didn't do exceedingly well with the bat. He wasn't as bad to be a Vaughan (ODIs) who had to be dropped cause his batting was harming the team or a Brealy who had to bat at 9, but a middle-order batsman who is built for captaincy and will perform time from time. Especially when the pressure is on. Add to that, Kaif is a brilliant fielder.
India likes to play 7 batsmen, Kaif could bat at 5 or 6.

Ganguly... If i remember right, you were one of the many people who was eager to see senior players like Sourav, Sachin to retire immediately supporting Chapell's view. How come then, all of a sudden, your support for Sourav came from now? :p

You got a good memory surendar, however,i was against Sachin and not Ganguly.

As a captain,Ganguly happens to be the best possible choice for them now.
I say this, even though he has a couple of years left. The thing is,under Ganguly, the team will be aggresive and he was the one who built up a team after Azhar and Jadeja left suddenly.

guys they will contact sachin first i think he will say no then they will have to ganguly for that 12odi agiast pak and aussies i think u need a senior player for this series sachin or soruav cant have yuvi or some one else

Vinod Kambli gave an interview to a TV channel yesterday and maintained that it was unlikely Sachin would accept the offer.
What India do not want is for Sachin to lose his current form, especially against Pak and Aus.I do not think that he will take up this position.

The BCCI must split the captaincy.
If that happens, either it woul be Sourav Ganguly or VVS Laxman[short on experience] for the tests.
For ODI's , the board's sources have disclosed it would most likely be Ms Dhoni.

I'm quite confident that Dhoni will be given the captaincy in both Tests and ODIs. Either which way, I find it hard to think how guys like Ganguly and Sachin will take orders from him....

sachin will be captain until he teires i think

Captain Should Be Your Best Player Currently Only Sachin Has a established Place in the team so he should be captain and dhoni should be groomed under him .

No, your captain should be a leader, not necessarily your best player.

yeah, example, england - KP is obviously the better player but MV is the captain because he can lead the team
