South Africa tour of England

Game. Set. Match !

The last few went down like a pack of cards. Great game, pity it finished a day early.

I feel, and do correct me if I am wrong, but Root's tactic to prove that Moeen was a batsmen-come-bowler may have cost England in this match.

Dawson was pretty poor in this match with Amla getting to him to negate his effect. Ali was used way too late by which time by which time both batsmen were settled - I mean he came on in the 40-odd over in the first innings.

The batting isn't quite coming together still, with Ballance likely to be dropped after a poor couple of outing. Would really like to see Hameed instead of Jennings at the top with Cook.

The same Hameed who can't buy a run in the domestic scene?

Hales should replace jennings, butler for ballance, crane or rashid for dawson and curran for wood.

But Hameed is a conservative batsman, someone who can wear the bowlers out which England missed dearly. Hopefully he gets into some form

Totally outplayed Englishmen, the difference between the two sides was Faf's captaincy... Let me tell you this guy Faf can make South Africa win the ODI World Cup and can take the SA test cricket to the most achievements. What I most liked about him is his calmness, looks a true born leader.

Yea he's a quality player and could easily surpass Cook's record for runs but no point selecting him now when he's out of form

Englands current selection policy means they will probably stick with Jennings for this series. A player needs to know they will get a decent run even if they currently don't look the business

But wouldn't that mean even more pressure on Jennings to perform now? I think he has had like 4 failed outings, right?

Well maybe but if I am right he knows he has 4 more innings to make a contribution- all about his mindset and mental toughness which will be examined!

I think they will give Jennings another chance becuase he scored that hundred on debut and he seems to be a decent batsman and has done well in domestic. I wiuldn't be surprised if they gave him all 4 tests because since Jennings is a young player, it will give him assurance that the selectors know he 's a good player and will back him up to score runs. Dawson is just a waste of a selection, in England it isn't really nessacery to have 2 spinners anyway, except if you are playing on the pitches that offer turn and bounce. He hasn't batted well at all as well. Same applies to Ballance as Jennings, he has scored runs in domestic, just perhaps needs time to get those runs.
