I was just browsing in Cricket 07 Downloads forums and i noticed that many inactive threads which are geting filled with spam posts, requests even when Requests are off.Although @MattW has given clear instructions on requesting no one bothers to read it.People keep digging out at threads which are months or even years old.I know there is a notice near quick reply box for old threads but again no one bothers to read it.Any way to control this type of spam posts?

Report the post by clicking on the "Report Post" button, simple.

Mate but there are many newbies in this forum who dont understand the concept and they dont see the date of posts thats the problem many dont understand the meaning of 'Request off' and 'Request on' and they simply start making requests. They dont make use of Request Thread and start posting the same requests in different threads.

Reporting does'nt stop spamming as i am not talking about one person but i am generalising.

I think you saw invincibles thread.

Not only invincible's you see last page of sundars thread

Because the download thread of a user remains the correct place to discuss that user's downloads. Even if someone has been inactive for a while, doesn't mean they might not like to get some positive feedback, or even answer a question.

If a user asks for their thread to be closed, that is done for them, but otherwise, they remain open and a valid place for discussion.

We can't make people read and we don't have the time or resources to put at checking every single post. We rely on post reports, regardless of your view of their usefulness, they are the most effective way of getting something removed.

In most cases, just report one example of something, and it will alert the mods to view that thread or that user's posts in general.

One of my favourite mods for Hearts of Iron 2 got an update literally after 4 years. The OP hadn't posted for two of those; had claimed to have given up on it and then boom, update was posted!

What I'm saying is, you'd be surprised how long it sometimes takes for updates to appear for mods...

End of another thread . <3

Well, its not easy to clean it out. Most of the posts are feedbacks . And some posts which is asking for help. So it will better that other guys(modders) help them or explain the matter. Thats it.

Well the thread owner can contact a moderator anytime and ask him to open his thread.

Or we can just keep doing what we currently do and just delete posts that unnecessarily bring up old download threads without closing everything.

Who spams also getting a buy 1 get 1 free ban:D
Spamming gets a week of ban and trying for other account within goes for 1 month, 2, 3 and for a lifetime ban.
That's needed. Newbies are not new born fellows. They know to read. As per my understanding, deleting posts, reporting only a great way.

Why does everything have to = Ban.

Just be cool and send them a nice PM telling them not to bump old threads, if it bothers you? For what it's worth, sometimes bumping an old thread can be a really cool thing if newer folks haven't seen someones mods, and lets other people rediscover them if they've been lost in the mess.

If you're a mod-maker and don't want your shit bumped, just PM one of the staff and they'll lock your thread.

Problem solved.
