is a joke. Here are the nominations:

Joe Calzaghe-One of the few who actually deserves to be on the list, one of the best sportsmen in the world and deserves his place.

Lewis Hamilton-Had a very impressive debut in F1 and had he won he would have been pretty much guaranteed. As it is he's English so he didn't win

Ricky Hatton-Fights on the eve of it and when he knocks out the cocky knob to become world champion will go down as probably Britains best ever boxer regardless of what this stpid competition says.

Andy Murray-won a couple of games of tennis apparently

Christine Ohrorogogouhyghgoogg-Right ok, I support united so I'm not here to criticise about missing drugs tests, although Rio's 1 was a hell of a lot more understandable than her 3, anyway she can't and won't win.

Paula Radcliffe- she won a marathon after having a child so well done althouh just because she had a kid doesn't mean she should win. She'll get all the sympathetic votes from women :p

Jason Robinson- A true legend of his sport, played very well at the world cup although really I don't think he did enough to warrant winning this.

Justin Rose-Golf. Ok i'll give him some credit but he's not even won a major tournament just won enough money to pick up a trophy!

James Toseland-Fair enough but his sport isn't high profile enough to win

Johnny Wilkinson-the one that annoys me the most. He did no play well. He was rubbish. He admits it. Despite this the media put all Englands success down to him and make him out to be the hero. Even if Toby Flood has scored a winning drop goal in the world cup final they would have given Jonny the credit for getting out of the way.

rant over.

I have only heard of Andy Murray, Lewis Hamilton, Ricky Hatton thats it..

Hang about, Paula Radcliffe? As soon as I read that I stopped reading.

Ever since Xara Phillips won last year the whole of Britain who aren't in the royal family knew that the voting is rigged anyway. If Hatton beats Maywether and doesn't win this award then that's definitive proof that this whole competition is gay.

nah hatton surely?!

if he doesnt get it then everyone will have forgotten about the fight by the time it comes round next year

I also voted for Hamilton..

Destroyed his superbikes league this season, going on to Moto GP iirc.

Shouldn't this be in Sports forum?

A double Superbike world champion after this season I might add. ;) And yes, he has gone to MotoGP.

I just hope Andy Priaulx gets a mention this year. Just a mention for Britain's triple world champion (FIA WTCC) would be nice.

On Hamilton and F1, ITV claim that they had 40% more viewers this year.

At least there are no bloody football players on there.

Toseland was awesome in the World Superbikes, so I heard. Has to be Hatton for me though. Lewis hamilton was great but obviously couldn't make the final hurdle which is just another learning curve for him. My top 3 would be:

1st - Ricky Hatton
2nd - Lewis hamilton
3rd - James Toseland

It's gotta be either Hatton or Hamiliton. Despite Hatton being a local boy, I think I'd still go for Hamiliton. What he's done for F1 has been incredible, and to go so close to winning the championship in the debut season was a great achievement in itself. Hatton deserves it as well, but I think Hamiliton for the way he burst onto the scene. Also, Hatton's a ciddy fan:p, I want him to win against Mayweather, but Mayweather going into the press conference with a United shirt on was brilliant!

There was nothing wrong with Wilkinson in the World Cup, he performed quite well, not up to his best, but still much better than any other England fly-half we've seen in recent times.

orugughgurughoughdruggie. Cool name, 'nuff said :p

Nah, Hamilton for me!

Is Wilkinson that bloke from the rugby WC, whose return got them so far? If so, then yea, he was good. Read an interview in a magazine with him (I think), and he seemed a nice fella.

Are you having a laugh? Worst kicker in the tournament iirc except for the Japan fly haf and seeing as Englands game was extremely reliant upon him he was rubbish. He didn't offer us any attacking threat with the ball in hand either, if he plays in the 6 nations it will be on reputation alone. Just his sheer presence was what got him in the side and even if you disagree you can't seriously think he played well enough to deserve a nomination for this?
