Pakistan in the end had no weak links. At least, if there were any, they were batting at 5, 6 and 7, where they were concealed. It was the sort of performance you'd hope for from a well seasoned group. Sri Lanka had done well up to this point, but there was a certain sense of inexperience to their flaws, when it fell to Sangakkara to get them out of a deep hole and then it was Jayasuriya who came in to take the first wicket. As much they rue the missed opportunity, players such as Angelo Mathews will certainly be better for it.

Well done Pakistan they played really well today. Can't believe how well Afridi batted either, he played with a lot of control. Sri Lanka can't complain either, they have been the best team in this world cup and they just came up against a good team. They have some really good young players coming up too.

Annoything was that in the final over of Malinga my internet was broken down again. It happened also in the semi-final against South Africa during the final ball. I didn't know even that Pakistan won the match in Malinga's over.

Can't say I agree with that. Sri Lanka have far better middle-lower order batsmen.

Pakistan really don't have any batsmen in form, Akaml is really the only batsmen that has done alright iirc.

i had a strong feeling from the start of the tournament that lank is going to win.
I still believe that Lanka will win and after seeing Lanka's performance in Semis, Lanka is looking unstoppable.

Very well done to Pakistan. They are very good at performing when it counts. All this 'unbeaten so far' nonsense that Sky Sports threw around about South Africa and Sri Lanka was proven irrelevant, rightfully so, by Pakistan who know how to perform on the big stage. They weren't the best team to watch, in all fairness, but they deserved to win. All credit to them

good on you pakis...and good on you afridi - boom boom! what a champ. my missus thought the way he celebrated wickets, catches made him look a bit full of himself...I told her to stick it...then showed her how flintoff celebrates....nothing tops flintoff for arrogance!

Hopefully they can get some cricket in now and really show how good they can be...would hate to see this era totally be destroyed by politics. I can see it now..opposite of 05....Australia spanks england, then get smashed by pakistan!
