As I return to PC, this game thread also returns as the PlanetCricket superstars continue to battle it out - did you really think this was going to stop, just after it was getting interesting? It's January, 2011 and some of the players are really starting to mature. Another reason this date is also of interest is because today is the day that
Treva would've joined Metalist, if he wasn't brutally eliminated. I might keep track of his progress anyway.

Mattfb (GK, Italy)
Club: Crystal Palace (on loan from Arsenal)
League: Coca-Cola Championship
Player Profile
Matt joined Crystal Palace on loan before the start of the season which proved to be an excellent move for him as he became the first choice goalkeeper for them. While Crystal Palace sit 13th in the Championship midway through the year, that is hardly Matt's blame - he has been in good form, conceding 28 goals from 23 games in a struggling team.

User2010 (GK, England)
Club: Valencia
League: Liga BBVA
Player Profile
After being the leader in June, User2010 found his league appearances restricted early, with his torn calf muscle from April last year keeping him out of action for four months. Even worse, Valencia offered him just the one starting appearance with regular goalkeeper Renan holding on to his spot. Suddenly, User isn't in such a glamorous position despite his great start, and how will he rebound from here?

Nakul (ST, Spain)
Club: Valladolid
League: Liga BBVA
Player Profile
Nakul's playing time for Valladolid's first XI was limited and he didn't gain a whole lot of experience. He was called up twice more for the Spain youth team and continued to perform superbly, maintaining his goal scoring record in national matches which now reads 6 youth caps / 8 youth goals. Despite that, he didn't play enough for Valladolid and he slips down the ladder after a not so good pre-Christmas season.

MaD (DC/DM/MC, England)
Club: Aberdeen
League: Scottish Premier League
Player Profile
MaD still remains loyal at Aberdeen, refusing to change clubs but it seems that soon he might need to take a step up. He is consistently in Aberdeen's starting XI, playing in the defensive midfield role, but the style of Scottish football really isn't suiting him and his average rating seems to be struggling. This was shown as after 41 appearances last season, he failed to make a starting spot on their Best Eleven. Still, he continues to play and with 18 more appearances for the first team he continues to bring in the points - which is the key factor of this competition. Growing old in the Manchester United reserves won't get you anywhere now, will it?

Hedger (ST, Sweden)
Club: Juventus
League: Serie A
Player Profile
It was a frustrating half season for Hedger, as he gathered dust at Juventus. After his $3.5M move, surely his spirits would've been up with the prospect of earning high points rather than wasting away at Kalmar FF, however he played just one senior game for Juventus and only two in the reserves - currently he remains on the fringe of the senior team but can't seem to find a way in. On the positive side, he got some international action after being called up for the senior Swedish team and playing well, scoring three goals in three matches to take his international tally to 4 caps / 3 goals.

Covvy (ST, England)
Club: Valencia
League: Liga BBVA
Player Profile
Covvy fell much into the same category as Hedger - he was on the fringe of Valencia's starting team but just couldn't break into it and it was a highly disappointing six months for him as well as he played just two league games and two non competitive games. He is now in serious trouble and will need a lot more game time from now until June if he is to stay in the contest.

Ollie H (MC, England)
Club: Manchester City
League: English Premier League
Player Profile
After his $8.25M move to City, Ollie would've hoped to get some rapid skill developments due to the excellent training facilities, and in that sense the move was a success. However, alongside Covvy and Hedger, he struggled to get game-time in either seniors or reserves and in the end didn't play a whole deal - but with his stats rapidly on the increase, he won't be worrying too much. He also made three youth appearances for England, which keeps his points tally high enough to keep him out of the firing line... for now.

Giggity Giggity (ST, Wales)
Club: West Brom
League:
English Premier League
Player Profile
Giggity Giggity's career took a huge upturn with a fantastic few months for him. For starters, he made the Best Eleven for West Brom, which earned him a few points, and then with West Brom's promotion to the Premiership he is now earning a lot more points for each appearance. That said, he only played ten senior games, but coupled with three reserve games earns him a fair bit of points. However, his real money came from Wales, where he made 7 senior appearances in the Welsh national team, scoring 1 goal and earning 3 MOTM awards, giving his points a massive boost.

Treva (DC, Russia)
Eliminated: 1st (2010)
The Spin (ST, Switzerland)
Club: Genoa
League: Serie A
Player Profile
It was a fairly quiet pre-season for the Spin at Genoa, which is not necessarily a good thing, seeing that he was already flailing at fourth from the bottom in June. He hardly had a single game with Genoa, and didn't play much in the reserves either, leaving his scoring very limited. However, one thing that improved it dramatically was his international appearances - he made 6 appearances for Switzerland, 2 of them as a sub, and played reasonably well in his matches, scoring two goals. Still, he needs a big improvement or he could be in some real danger.

Maney2k9 (ST/ML, Ireland)
Club: Southampton
League: Coca-Cola League One
Player Profile
It was a reasonably good six/seven months for Maney as he continued to rack up the appearances for Southampton. The disadvantage of playing in League One means he earns the least amount of points for league games compared to every other single player, but at least he is getting regular first-team action, unlike some of the other competitors. He also earned a spot in the Best Eleven of 2009/10, and with 19 senior appearances already this year and with Southampton 1st in League One it looks like he could be earning some more points. He hasn't broken into the Irish senior squad yet but played two more youth games for them.

Shantanu Rooney (ST, Germany)
Club: Rostock
League: German Second Division
Player Profile
It was another excellent half-season for German w?nderkind Shantanu Rooney as he continued to rack up the appearances and goals for Rostock. He hasn't broken into any of the German national sides yet, but with his fantastic goal scoring record in the German Second Division it can't be too long before they notice him. He made a dramatic improvement on his goals per game ratio from last year, when he scored 16 goals in 29 senior games. Already this year he has 15 goals from 19 senior games and things are looking very positive with the points coming in steadily.
