The FM Elimination Challenge (June 2026)

Well, hung on there, but I'd better start getting a look in at Genoa or things could really slide.

Nice to see the international career progressing though.

Treva, after a fairly short and unsuccessful career at Metalist in Ukraine, you were signed for $400K on the 12th of August, 2011 by Villareal. You are now one of their first choice defenders and as of January 2012, you have played 12 games for Villareal in the Liga BBVA and another two appearing as a substitute. Your value is $400K. You played quite a lot for the Russian youth teams and recorded over 10 youth caps for Russia. Then, you were called up by the senior team and played two games for Russia with an average rating of 6.7. You made your debut in Russia's 2-0 win over Luxembourg and then played in Russia's 4-0 win over Hong Kong (China PR).

And, come January people, there will be some serious shakeups! Players that looked quite accomplished at their current clubs have joined others in an attempt for first team football, with two big transfers taking place. Another competitor also broke their ankle which puts them out for three months, and also puts a serious dent in their point-scoring quest, while find out which player has become just the second ever competitor to win a MOTM award while playing with a Premier League club after Hedger won one MOTM award with Wolves last half-season. You can also find out which player is being touted as the next Julio Salinas, and which player has burst on to the international scene with a flurry of goals.

There's plenty of action. It promises to be an exciting half-season, and then after that we revisit our next elimination - who won't make the axe? Ten will soon become nine...

Wow. The move to Wolves really helped me move up the standings. Hopefully I can start getting some game time at Juventus.

Mattfb (GK, Italy)
Club: Everton
League: English Premier League
Player Profile

Despite being a strong Liverpool supporter, Matt decided that a move to Everton would be optimal for his survival in the competition after they came calling in early July. However, he got limited time at Everton after Italy consistently required him for international duty for their Under 21 team. In the end, he made just one competitive appearance for Everton and five for their reserves, but it was his nine youth caps for Italy that really boosted his score and overall Matt has been consistently good and is starting to push his way up the leaderboard.

User2010 (GK, England)
Club: Arsenal
League: English Premier League
Player Profile

After Matt left Arsenal to head to Everton on a deal allegedly worth over $5M, Arsenal needed a promising youth goalie to fill in - and there was none better than User, they decided. He was bought for $1.3M from Valencia and played 6 games in the reserves for Arsenal, conceding just 3 goals in what looks to be a promising start. He also made two youth appearances for England but needs some more games to push further up the leaderboard.

Points: 270.22

Nakul (ST, Spain)
Club: Valladolid "B"
League: Third Division Group 8
Player Profile

Things went catastrophically bad for Nakul as he was moved to Valladolid "B" after a lack of senior appearances at Valladolid. Not only were the league matches worth a pitiful amount of points on their own, but he suffered further drawbacks as he lost a massive amount of points due to the almost non-existent reputation of Valladolid "B". He played well, scoring 9 goals and 5 assists in 14 games, but he is hardly earning anything at all and looks to be in serious strife unless he can find his way back to Valladolid before June. Still, he is being touted as the next Julio Salinas by the Spanish media - but he's not going to be touted as anybody if he gets eliminated now, is he?

Points: 228.52

MaD (DC/DM/MC, England)
Club: Chelsea
League: English Premier League
Player Profile

MaD continues to hold on to his slender lead after a surge from Hedger and some consistent scoring from Mattfb, but a lead is a lead nonetheless and MaD continues to impress football fans around the world. He made 6 appearances for Chelsea, 3 of them as a substitute, scoring 1 goal, providing 2 assists and winning just the second ever Man of the Match award in the Premier League out of all competitors, after Hedger earned MOTM at Wolves.

Hedger (ST, Sweden)
Club: Juventus
League: Serie A
Player Profile

It was another brilliant half-season for Hedger who continues to turn around his slow start with some superb performances. He burst onto the international scene with a flurry of goals, making 11 appearances for Sweden and scoring 9 goals, while Juventus continue to persist with him after he was hardly playing this time last year. He started in 11 games for Juventus, scoring two goals, and he also played in 4 matches for their reserves. All of this has brought upon another monumental rise up the leaderboard as he takes over second position - and how safe is MaD's lead?

Points: 420.78

Covvy (ST, England)
Eliminated: 2nd (2011)

Ollie H (MC, England)
Club: Manchester City
League: English Premier League
Player Profile

Ollie Holden continues to lurk around mid-table in the leaderboard at City. He looks to be a very promising player, and with the superb training that he is getting at City, he will surely be benefiting from this soon compared to players who are at clubs with not-so-impressive facilities. However, he still hasn't gotten much of a chance to prove himself, playing just one match up to January for the senior team. However, he was called up a lot for the England Under 21 team alongside fellow countryman Covvy (R.I.P 2009-2011) and scored 4 youth goals from 9 games out of the midfield.

Giggity Giggity (ST, Wales)
Club: West Brom
League: English Premier League
Player Profile

After previously being a regular starter for West Brom in the Championship and even last year in the Premier League, Giggs didn't get quite the amount of action he would've wanted - making only 10 appearances in the reserves team for West Brom. However, he continued to play for Wales, continuing to be the most capped player out of everyone with 13 caps and 2 goals for Wales, and he also is the highest paid player - earning a staggering $2.7M per year at West Brom, despite not even playing in their first team.

Points: 397.25

Treva (DC, Russia)
Eliminated: 1st (2010)

The Spin (ST, Switzerland)
Club: Genoa
League: Serie A
Player Profile

After narrowly escaping last elimination, it seemed like The Spin would be first in the firing line come next June - however, the move from Nakul to Valladolid "B" saw him drop almost 60 points and The Spin managed to move out of the cursed last position after a string of performances for Switzerland. He now has 10 international caps with 6 goals, and despite once more getting very limited time for Genoa's senior and reserve teams he manages to move out of last position. However, luck was not on Spin's side as he broke his ankle in December, which looks to see him out of action for at least another two months.

Points: 248.42

Maney2k9 (ST/ML, Ireland)
Club: Southampton
League: Coca-Cola Championship
Player Profile

After winning promotion for his team Southampton to the Championship, Maney is now earning more points for every league game, which is a relief for him as he simply couldn't maintain his high level of activity in the first team for Southampton - an injury could have previously seen him drop out of the competition. However, he remains in their first team and has played 17 games up to January in the Championship as well as making 7 youth appearances for Ireland, seeing him move narrowly above rival competitor Ollie.

Points: 323.17

Shantanu Rooney (ST, Germany)
Club: R. Madrid Castilla
League: Spanish Second Division B2
Player Profile

Shantanu Rooney suffered a similar fate to Nakul - although his move wasn't quite as substantial. He was sent to Real Madrid Castilla - the feeder club of Real Madrid, to play in the Second Division B in Spain, where he earned minimal points and saw a big drop in reputation. He also remains the only player who has never played a single international or youth international match - remaining uncapped for Germany. Still, his performances for Castilla were quite impressive with his natural freakish talent of making goals out of nothing continuing to show as he scored 10 in 11.

Wow, I can't believe I moved to Everton DD:

Ollies stats are gun! Man City are doing his mental stats really good so far, which are important for a quality middy. I can see him rising up the table quickly.

Shantanu Rooney, I've discovered that your lack of national appearances may be due to Sports Interactive not obtaining the German national license which results in the national team being filled with greyed out players.

If you want, you can change nationality to any other EU nation.

Well, a bit disappointed with the lack of people posting.. (Shantanu Rooney). To those that have been posting, thanks heaps to you guys and by that I mean Hedger, Matt, Nakul, Spin, and even Covvy and Treva despite being eliminated. After this competition I will hopefully run a new one but I'm going to filter out entries so people like Shantanu, User and MaD who signup and then hardly ever post won't be participating... unless they can redeem themselves here.

Anyway, next update coming tonight. And also, next series might be a twist - might be incorporating money as well as attribute selection... should be exciting.

Oh, blake I'm sorry actually. I never knew this was on. I'll be active here from now on. Great that I'm selected for Arsenal.
