The FM Elimination Challenge (June 2026)

Those mental stats might be good, but need to work on my football skills! Hopefully i'll start getting some games at City, before moving over to the better side of Manchester!

Yeah but Ollie, everyones still young so the technical stuff will improve soon, especially at Man City. Plus mental is really important for a good MC, technical is more important for an AMC in this game tbh.

Looking forward to it Blake.

Elimination: No. 3

The Spin and Nakul looked set to have out an elimination battle after Nakul was dropped to feeder club Valladolid B, but in February Nakul was called back to the senior side and had a very successful half-season in their first team, effectively crushing the dreams of The Spin, who was eliminated with 286.91 points.

Mattfb (GK, Italy)
Club: Everton
League: English Premier League
Player Profile

Matt didn't get a great deal of gametime at Everton in the half-season but made a few more appearances for the Italy youth teams and earned enough points to keep him in third position, comfortably ahead of fourth. Still, he will need to keep earning the points if he doesn't want to slip down the leaderboard.

Points: 428.20

User2010 (GK, England)
Club: Arsenal
League: English Premier League
Player Profile

It was not the best season at all for User2010, who was in a scramble but managed to avoid elimination by pushing narrowly ahead of The Spin. After his move to Arsenal, he played only more reserve games for them and made three more youth appearances for England. However, he didn't earn enough points to keep him safe at all and he needs a big season next year or else he could be heading home.

Points: 294.81

Nakul (ST, Spain)
Club: Valladolid
League: Liga BBVA
Player Profile

Nakul recovered strongly after being moved back to the Valladolid senior team and had a great half-season, playing 15 league games and scoring 7 in the Liga BBVA. This was just the lifeline he needed to save his career from elimination and now he will be grateful that he is out of the direct elimination zone, back into 7th place.

Points: 350.22

MaD (DC/DM/MC, England)
Club: Chelsea
League: English Premier League
Player Profile

MaD finally dropped out of first position after spending a year there with the rise of Hedger, but he still maintains a solid second position, and isn't too far away from pressing for the lead again. He is progressing well at Chelsea and looks like he might have a following career after starting in 6 league games and making 7 sub appearances this year.

Points: 458.58

Hedger (ST, Sweden)
Club: Juventus
League: Serie A
Player Profile

Hedger's dream run continued as he overtook leader MaD after a good season at Juventus, in which he played 17 league games as well as playing more for Sweden, taking his caps to 12. He continued to stack up the points, and it seems surprising that just a year and a half ago, Hedger was a prime candidate for elimination. He is now in first place and is showing no signs of slowing down.

Points: 474.92

Covvy (ST, England)
Eliminated: 2nd (2011)

Ollie H (MC, England)
Club: Manchester City
League: English Premier League
Player Profile

It was a good half-season for the Holdenator who started in 9 senior matches over the course of the year at City, while continuing to impress himself in the England youth. He battled on into 5th position - one place up from January, and his attributes are looking fantastic - he could seriously soon become a leading Premier League midfielder.

Points: 375.75

Giggity Giggity (ST, Wales)
Club: West Brom
League: English Premier League
Player Profile

Giggs might seriously need to start thinking about a move, as he is now being rewarded with no game-time at all. He cruelly suffered a broken heart in April which kept him out of action for 4 weeks after his girlfriend dumped him and didn't make an entire league appearance in the Prem at all for West Brom, which he must seek to change next year.

Points: 404.2

Treva (DC, Russia)
Eliminated: 1st (2010)

The Spin (ST, Switzerland)
Eliminated: 3rd (2012)

Maney2k9 (ST/ML, Ireland)
Club: Southampton
League: Coca-Cola Championship
Player Profile

Southampton managed to narrowly survive in the Championship, but Maney is still not earning enough points to keep himself safe and despite making consistent league appearances he is finding himself slipping down the leaderboard with Southampton's small reputation affecting him. He needs to find a new club if he wants to persist - his attributes just aren't climbing at the same rate as Ollie's or Hedger's. With that said, he hangs on in 8th position and has a comfortable lead over User.

Points: 345.86

Shantanu Rooney (ST, Germany)
Club: R. Madrid Castilla
League: Spanish Second Division B2
Player Profile

Shantanu Rooney continued his devastating spree at Castilla, scoring 13 goals in 17 games as his final tally for the end of the season, but his lack of caps for Germany is really costing him, which is through his own fault after he was offered the option to change and never responded. Karma has a strange way of biting back and Shantanu Rooney might really struggle without points from international appearances keeping him up.

Anything happening with Russian Trev? Would be funny if in a few years I won World Footballer of the Year having been eliminated from this in the first round :p

Women... Fergie! Sign me up! Fergie, Fergie, sign me up!!!!

Front post updated with all of my posts neatly indexed...

And, here's a short summary for those eliminated.

Treva's elimination was extremely unlucky in the overall scheme of things, because now he has hit his strides and is simply dominating. He made a staggering 31 appearances with 4 substitute games for Villareal in the Liga BBVA and played another game for Russia. He would've earned 157.5 points on this season alone - more than anybody else, except Hedger.

Covvy continues to shine in the Eredivisie with NAC Breda, on loan from Valencia. He made 30 appearances in the Netherlands top flight and scored 13 goals. He also has 6 youth caps and has scored 3 youth goals for England. If only he could've found some of this form earlier!

The Spin, being eliminated just this month, has not done anything. He hardly played for Genoa and despite making 12 overall appearances for Switzerland it isn't enough to keep him alive in this competition.

Maybe I wasn't as far off with my prediction as I thought when posting it. Damn Ukrainian side Metalist!

This move to Juventus was probably a great move. Looking like being eliminated, as soon as my injury wore off, I started to climb the ladders and now in first.

Very bad, very very bad for me. I just managed to keep myself alive here. Need to pull the socks up.

It proved to be a high-scoring update as many players found their spot in the team and attempted to launch themselves ahead of the pack.

Mattfb (GK, Italy)
Club: Everton
League: English Premier League
Player Profile

It was another disappointing half-season for Mattfb, who now found himself slipping down to 5th position after hardly playing at all for Everton's reserves after he tore his cruciate ligaments which kept him out for 6 weeks. After maintaining a solid 3rd position for quite a while, he now finds himself sliding down the leaderboard with the Toffees refusing to play him, and with other players surging past, he really needs to step up.

Points: 460.38

User2010 (GK, England)
Club: Crystal Palace (on loan from Arsenal)
League: Coca-Cola Championship
Player Profile

User2010 was in big strife with almost a 50 point buffer separating him from the person above him, and the person he would need to catch in order to avoid elimination come June this year, and he decided to move to Crystal Palace on loan as their first choice goalkeeper in almost identical circumstances as Matt while he was at Arsenal. He played 26 games, but with everybody else getting regular action, he still finds himself a long way from being saved and will need a lot of MOTM awards or international appearances to save him and keep him up come June.

Points: 384.23

Nakul (ST, Spain)
Club: Valladolid
League: Liga BBVA
Player Profile

After his brief scare last year at January, Nakul has recovered slightly but still sits in 8th position. Thankfully he has a comfortable lead over User2010, and playing some more youth games for Spain as well as quite a few league games for Valladolid has not hurt his chances in the slightest, as he holds on to his position narrowly. Still, he will want more game-time for Valladolid or else in June, 2014 it could be him who is heading home.

Points: 424.83

MaD (DC/DM/MC, England)
Club: Chelsea
League: English Premier League
Player Profile

MaD slipped down to third position after limited game time with Chelsea, making just 3 appearances with 2 of them coming as a substitute over the half-season. Still, he is in no real danger in third position but he will definitely want to improve in order to move back up the ladder again. He played well in his times in the reserves, however, creating 5 assists from 13 matches, and narrowly cracking the 500 point mark.

Points: 500.37

Hedger (ST, Sweden)
Club: Juventus
League: Serie A
Player Profile

It was another simply ridiculous half-season for Hedger, who carved it up yet again. He made 7 more appearances for Sweden, taking his tally to 19 caps / 13 goals and if he keeps this up he could go on to break the all-time goalscoring record for Sweden set by Sven Rydell which stands at 49 goals. He has also made 13 league appearances for Juventus, however he has only scored 3 goals.

Points: 620.70

Covvy (ST, England)
Eliminated: 2nd (2011)

Ollie H (MC, England)
Club: Manchester City
League: English Premier League
Player Profile

Ollie's attributes continued to blossom at City and his form was so good that he was even called up for England, in a match where he played well providing an assist on debut against Serbia at the age of 19. He became a regular First XI starter at Man City, making an exceptional 24 senior appearances as well as 2 sub appearances, earning a lot of points to leap-frog him into 2nd position, and with his attributes getting better and better, how long will it be before he imposes his dominance on the world?

Points: 522.05

Giggity Giggity (ST, Wales)
Club: West Brom
League: English Premier League
Player Profile

Giggs didn't end up moving which was the right choice, as West Brom called him back up into their first squad after he continued to improve and impress for the reserves. After knocking in 5 goals in the reserves from 7 matches, he was quickly called up to the senior team where he scored 4 times in 11 matches - a reasonable haul for a young Welsh striker in the Premiership with still a lot to learn. He was also called up more for Wales, taking his tally to 14 caps. It was a much better half-season for Giggs, who had gone cold a little bit with lack of action recently, but he played well and managed to hold on to 4th position.

The Spin (ST, Switzerland)
Eliminated: 3rd (2012)

Maney2k9 (ST/ML, Ireland)
Club: Southampton
League: Coca-Cola Championship
Player Profile

Maney continued to play at Southampton, but he is really being limited by the amount of points that he is earning playing at Championship level, and he continues to hang around the danger zone. News that he had signed a new two year deal with Southampton until 2015 may not be the best idea either, as he really needs to put his loyalty aside and head on up to the Premier League where the real points are made. That said, he made 25 more appearances for Southampton, scoring 4 and creating 4, and he looks still to be a vital part of their first team, and he is keeping Southampton out of the relegation zone in the Championship.

Points: 446.70

Shantanu Rooney (ST, Germany)
Club: R. Madrid
League: Liga BBVA
Player Profile

Shantanu Rooney moved back to his parent club, Real Madrid, and even got a taste of first-team action, playing 5 games and scoring 6 - continuing his reputation of being a goal-machine. Tallying up his career stats (not including non competitive matches) shows that he has played 78 matches and scored 53 goals - a phenomenal effort, which is far superior to all other strikers, including Hedger. He also earned a lot of points for his move back to Real Madrid and looks to be safe for this elimination.
