The next five months from January to June were huge in the competition - there was action left, right and centre with goals, injuries, international call-ups and huge transfers as the players all sought to stay alive in the competition. After January, Giggity Giggity moved into the lead for the first time in the competition while MaD and Shantanu Rooney trailed him, while at the bottom were Hedger, The Spin and Covvy, with all three a chance of being the next eliminated.
2011 started with a huge move as Real Madrid came calling for Shantanu Rooney on the 9th of January, and he signed for them for a fee of $13.5M on a four and a half deal worth over $6,000,000 for him. There was still more action to follow though, as on the 19th of January, Chelsea signed exciting young defensive midfielder MaD for $4.8M - a move which he seemed over the moon about. Nobody else moved permanently, but Hedger went on loan to Wolves in the Premier League and got some valuable first-team experience and points while Ollie spent some time at Hull, who had been relegated to the Championship.
Nearly all players had their share of injuries throughout the five month period. Mattfb picked up a virus while on loan at Crystal Palace which kept him out of action for 11 days, while User2010 suffered a huge amount of injuries as his torn calf muscle from late October saw him miss January and February. He later sprained his ankle and suffered a gashed lower leg keeping him out for over three of the five months in total. Nakul suffered a huge blow as he dislocated his shoulder which kept him injured for two months. Ollie Holden sprained his ankle at Hull in a match and missed five weeks, Giggity Giggity twisted his ankle and missed four weeks while those who didn't pick up an injury remained thankful. Remarkably, The Spin and Shantanu Rooney have remained in perfect condition in the last two years, with neither of them having any type of injury ever in their short careers.
But, although injuries can hamper a player for a while, it is ultimately the points that count. The person with the lowest amount of points will be headed out of the competition to become the 2nd person eliminated, after Treva.
In first position, after a successful move to Chelsea, was MaD. He played a few games for the Reserves and even a handful of senior games to earn him 371.34 points. Following behind him narrowly, on 360.25 points, was Giggity Giggity who continued to play at West Brom. He didn't start in as many games as last season but still played a big impact as West Brom finished 12th in the Premier League.
In third position, rising up one place from 4th at January, was Italian goalkeeper Mattfb. He still has just the one youth cap to his name but the loan move to Crystal Palace was superb for him, even if he didn't think so in the media, claiming his move was supposedly a 'waste of time'. He played almost the entire season there and earned a lot of points in the Championship, taking his score to 340.47. In fourth position, dropping one spot from January despite his illustrious move to Real Madrid was German striker Shantanu Rooney with 333.25 points. He didn't play as many games as he would've liked but after scoring 11 goals in the 5 games he did play in the Under 19s he will certainly be playing a lot more next season.
In fifth position, after a huge points rise, is Hedger. His loan move from Juventus to Wolves saw him play 17 games in the Premier League which earned him a lot more points as compared to staying at Juventus, and he also played some more for Sweden. He now has 5 caps / 4 goals for Sweden and his score has raised a huge amount to 282.08. A bit behind him sits Spanish striker Nakul, who after an early blitz has been slowly dropping down the table. He was hampered by a dislocated shoulder and his score is now 256.34.
Marginally behind Nakul, in a fierce battle for 7th position, sits British duo Maney2k9 and Ollie Holden. Maney currently leads Ollie marginally on points and with Southampton being promoted to the Championship he might be able to earn a lot more points next season. He currently sits on 251.26 while Ollie is just behind on 249.5 points. And then, only a few points behind Ollie, is goalkeeper User2010 who has been biding his time at Valencia without really earning a whole heap of points. Still, he remains in 9th position with 244.25 points and is fairly safe from elimination now, but really needs to lift his game.
This leaves two footballers remaining, and two competitors that seem rather unlikely to head home considering the circumstances. One is Swiss striker The Spin, a.k.a Chez, who is playing at Genoa in Italy and already has 6 international caps with 2 goals for Switzerland. The other is young English striker Covvy, who after being in comfortable last place at January has made a late surge as Valencia decided to give him some games in the Under 19 team, and he has been playing well lately for England with 5 youth caps and 3 youth goals - some superb form in an attempt to give his career another year.
Less than 15 points separates these two competitors. One is on 201.98 points, while one is on 186.9 points. One has played a lot of games recently, while the other has hardly played at all. Who will be going home?
