Story The Journey of International Teams. Cricket 07. Current Series: (Test) ENG vs. WIN

Windies batting has been slowed down to great extent.. especially Lara.. but as long as he is there, Windies are in safe position.

Well, this story has been brilliantly presented.. Keep up the fantastic works.. :clap One small suggestions.. Can u try replacing the light green font with some other color.. may be purple.

COME ON SHIV! I am now, officially, a West Indies supporter because I want them to make a match of it! Nice pres yet again! wd!

Lunch Interval

David Gower: Welcome back to Lord's where in this second npower test match between England and the West Indies the West Indies are batting and have been slow in tricky conditions and at lunch find themselves at 43/2. The two wickets to fall were the two openers, Gayle for a duck and Hinds for 16. Lara has played well and Chanderpaul is yet to get off the mark. Joining me in the studio are David Lloyd and Sir Ian Botham. David first of all how did you see England's performance this morning?

David Lloyd: Well i thought again they were very good with the new ball and were actually unlucky only to get two wickets. Matthew Hoggard troubled Gayle and got one to go through the gate while Harmison from the other end troubled the batsman with his pace. Flintoff was a little wayward but still bowled well and Jones bowled very accurately and got the ball to seam. He picked up Hinds. Overall i expect the same sort of performance this afternoon and you can expect the introduction of Monty Panesar as well to trouble the batsman even more.

David Gower: Ian what did you make of the West Indies batting was there any sort of improvement form their dismal showing in the first test at Old Trafford or were they just as bad?

Sir Ian Botham: There has definitely been an improvement from what i have seen so far. Gayle struggled and he is the exception but Hinds looked confident and Lara has been supreme. It is hard to tell too much at the minute but i am sure we will learn a lot more in the afternoon session coming up.

David Gower: Now it is time for our lunch feature and this test match each lunchtime one pundit will talk about leading young cricketers. Each lunchtime they will reveal their team of players who all have to be under 25. They will talk about who they think will make a big impression in word cricket and today it is the turn of Sir Ian Botham. Here he is with his young guns report.

Sir Ian Botham: Thanks David. Now firstly i will reveal my whole team. These will no doubt be eleven world class players as they get older and you can expect them to shine in tests, ODI's and Twenty20 cricket. You can see that the list involves a lot of different nationalities.

Now you will see i have three Englishman. Alistair Cook is a certainty for me because his technique is class and he is patient. He would work well with the likes of Upul Tharanga and AB De Villiers who are more aggressive than he is. Also Ross Taylor and Salman Butt are good players but need a bit of work. They are also good fielders. AB De Villiers will be the wicket keeper and the all rounder is Dwayne Bravo. Shaun Tait and Malinga as the quicks and Broad and Plunkett to add variety of swing and seam. The spin would be offered by Cameron White. I feel that this selection of players would work well together and the leaders on the field would all work together. I am very interested to see what the other members of the team go for. That is Beefy's team of under 25's.

David Gower: Thanks Ian. Now after this break we will be back and we will be ready for the afternoon session of play. Make sure you don't miss it because it is sure to be a cracker.

England vs. West Indies: 2nd Test, Day One, Afternoon Session LIVE!

David Gower: Welcome back to Lord's where we are ready for the afternoon session of play now and to take you through it are Nasser Hussain and David Lloyd.

David Lloyd: Thanks David and England are all set to carry on bowling and the West Indies have got to try and bat a bit here this afternoon. It isn't going to be easy but they have talent and they will know that they can find some form if they stick at it. The first over after lunch is going to be bowled by Andrew Flintoff and he will bowl to Brian Lara. Running in and that is in the air but safe. Went for a cover drive but slices it instead over gully and it races away for a streaky four. Lara was playing well before lunch but that was a poor shot.

Jones bowls from the other end and concedes 3 runs before Monty Panesar is brought into the attack for the first time in the match

Nasser Hussain: Panesar to bowl then and i don't think there will be a lot of turn for him on this wicket but none the less he may pick up the wicket England need. First delivery then and that is too short and Chanderpaul gets his first boundary with a nice square drive between the fielders. Monty always has one loosener.

5 overs pass and Monty is about to bowl the 37th over with the score 63/2 and the partnership building nicely between Lara and Chanderpaul.

David Lloyd: Monty again then he has bowled well so far but has got no reward for his hard work. Lara is on strike and he advances and plays a wonderful square drive between cover and backward point. That is a fine shot and Lara shows his class there. He looks in great touch here and the West Indies have reason to have hope again.

3 overs pass with the bowlers not troubling the batsman. They take singles and two's with ease and the score is 74/2 with Monty again about to bowl to Brain Lara.

Nasser Hussain: Lara on strike then and he goes for a reverse sweep but he is struck in front. Loud appeal but the umpire stands tall, not out. It looked to be not turning enough so i would say that was a good decision. Monty looks distraught as he always does but he goes back to his mark and gets ready to bowl again. Bowled him! This time Lara goes for the same shot again but Monty reads it and pitches one on leg stump to get the crucial wicket of Lara. Monty gets a wicket and that is a massive breakthrough. Lara must go for 38 and the West Indies are 74/3.

David Lloyd: Crucial wicket indeed Nasser but there is still a lot of work to be done because joining Chanderpaul at the crease now is none other than Ramnaresh Sarwan who top scored in both innings at Old Trafford for the West Indies. England need another wicket to expose the less experienced West Indies players.

5 overs pass and Hoggard and Harmison are bowling in tandem. They only give away six runs. Harmison gets ready to bowl to Chanderpaul in the 47th over with the score 80/3.

Nasser Hussain: Harmison to Chanderpaul then and that is overpitched and punished. Chanderpaul opens his shoulders and strokes it through the covers for a well executed and timely boundary. West Indies are looking a lot better than they did at Old Trafford at this minute in time.

4 more overs are bowled and the score is 91/3. Hoggard to bowl to Chanderpaul.

David Lloyd: Shiv Chanderpaul on strike then and Hoggard to bowl. Bouncer and Chanderpaul goes for it, massive top edge but it flies over the wicket keepers head and will go for a boundary. Chanderpaul is now 30 not out and starting to look a very dangerous customer for the English bowlers here. They need to get him out somehow.

Nasser Hussain: Harmison to continue and Chanderpaul is on strike yet again. That is a beautiful shot. Not a lot worng with the delivery but Chanderpaul finds the gap in the covers and hits another boundary. Harmison doesn't look happy and goes back to his marker. Runs in again and that is eactly the same. Another cover drive from Chanderpaul and Harmsion stares at him. Chanderpaul gives a bit back and Harmison is angry with himself. Great batting from Shiv Chanderpaul!

Panesar is brought back into the attack to tighten things up. He bowls a maiden and then Harmison is set to bowl at Chanderpaul again with the score 105/3.

David Lloyd: Harmison to coninue then. In his last over he was hit to the boundary twice and what sort of over will he bowl here. Runs in and that is short. Chanderpaul hooks and that is going long, long, long! It keeps going for a massive six about twenty rows back in the crowd. This is exciting stuff and Shiv Chanderpaul moves to 44 not out. The West Indies are suddenly looking good in this match again.

The final two overs before tea bring two runs and the West Indies batsmen go in happy at the interval.

Nasser Hussain: Well what a session of play that was. Let's take a look at the West Indies scorecard. They came out 43/2 and they have managed to add 70 runs for the loss of 1 wicket but that wicket was a big one. Monty Panesar managed to bowl Brian Lara. The story of this session though is that Shivnarine Chanderpaul is playing brilliantly and is 45 not out at tea.

David Lloyd: As for the England bowlers they carried on bowling good lines but they got less assistance from the pitch this session. Harmison was expensive while Monty Panesar was brought into the proceedings and bowled well. He picked up the wicket of Brian Lara and was vey economical while the swing bowlers were getting hit out of the ground. Overall the West Indies are on top but it could go either way.

Nasser Hussain: Join us after the break where we will have the evening session of play. Don't miss it because if it is anything like this session it is going to be a real treat!

lol it still is chanderpaul and sarwan are at the crease and bravo is to come yet don't speak to early lol

I dont really rate bravo to make enough runs to beat england
and chanderpaul is going to need a HUGE score

Hoggard bowling very economically. Windies still have some batting to come. Excellent works DX. Good luck in The SOTM! :)

Monty did amazing 1 over and 4 maidens 1 wicket 12 runs at a Economy of 1.20.
