End of Day One. Could Team Pujara mount a massive comeback or would Team Cook continue their cruise in Kolkata?
Well... what a day for Alastair Cook turning his hundred into a daddy already with 223 and power to add, meanwhile Cook coming at three also passed 150 as the final session provided carnage. Cook may feel he missed out with just 103... 503-1 with so much power to add. Pujara absolutely lost it today.
Pujara the 5th got the only two maidens before lunch and that was it. Some real bad looking bowling figures except for maybe Pujara 2... A good night's sleep is needed because Team Pujara are already very behind the eight ball here.

Well it's over. Just after drinks on the morning of Day 2 Cooky decided he'd had enough.
Weird time and place to declare but I appreciate the fact that Cook didn't want to go past his highest score against Team Pujara and thus sully his record. Will he regret this show of hubris though? A double century for Cook as well coming in at three. I'd have carried on batting but maybe Cook saw something in Pujara's face that suggested wilting in the Indian heat...
Pujara the 2nd claimed the best bowling award with a maiden as well (along with Pujara the 6th) but this makes horrible reading for anyone who isn't Alastair Cook...

Could Pujara get to lunch without losing a wicket or would Cook's declaration prove a genius move.
First job done for team Pujara and at a decent lick as well going at just over 5.5 an over. A leaky start from the Cooks.
I am going to do that for the 3rd test I think... Hoping it will be 1-1 or 0-0 by then.

Tea on Day 2 and Team Pujara needed to continue to dig in and play to respond to Cook's first innings total.
A little bit of a wobble happened with both openers getting out and leaving the team on 136-2 but a good solid partnership between Pujara and Pujara has steadied the ship somewhat despite being three hundred runs adrift still. Both Pujaras will be looking to turn their (almost) 50s into hundreds in the evening session to stay in the game.
Great bowling by Cook the 7th and while Cook the 5th might be expensive he has picked up a wicket. Cook the 10th still waiting for a bowl.

Team Pujara needed runs and ideally no more wickets to fall in the final session of Day 2.
Well they got the runs with a 202 run partnership for the 3rd wicket but shortly after getting to his hundred and just before the end of the day Pujara was snared by Cook. Pujara came out and put any ideas of seeing off the day to one side with a run a ball 11 while Pujara sits at the other end 129* with power to add tomorrow. You feel he'll have to go big to keep his team in it. I wonder if Cook will feel he should've batted on?

Cook the second sounds like a previous king! Both batsman showing their aggressive side in this run feast must be fun to simulate and see scores up and economy up too

Day 3 dawns with a big session needed by the well set Pujaras... Could Pujara the 3rd go big like the Cooks had and would the other Pujaras be there to back him?
Well we have a game on now with the Cooks getting their noses in front with a bit of a collapse coming after Pujara the 3rd was out for 156 with 6 and 7 out pretty cheaply (Clamper is the 12th man in the Cook team btw, not sure why he took that catch). Anyroad Cook still lead by a 130 odd and only Pujara 5 you feel can stop them from taking a lead.
Some very interesting bowling figures especially the symmetry of 3 bowlers having taken 1-38. Cook the 3rd has become the best bowler ably backed up by Cook the 8th now. Cook the 3rd even got three maidens. Stirring stuff...

Team Pujara are right back in it now and suddenly Alastair Cooks might be getting twitchy. A wicketless session taking them to 605-6 with Pujara 5 getting his 100 and Pujara 8 backing him up superbly notching a half-century. With only 17 runs left to parity the game could be well turning on its head. You get the feeling Pujaras will want to bat through the next session and establish a lead and then let their twirlers go to work on a dusty pitch. Will Cook be rueing that declaration?
