2013 Confederations Cup -- Brazil fields young squad - ESPN FC

I've very surprised players like Ramires, Fernandinho (man city), Willian (anzi makhachkala), Felipe Santana (b dortmund) and Dede (Cruzeiro) is not in Brazil confederations cup squad. Since Scolari has returned i think he has also missed a trick by not playing a back 3 formation as the case was when Brazil won the 2002 world cup. Full-backs Alves & Marcelo in my view should be allowed more freedom to fly forward the same way Roberto Carlos & Cafu did in the 2002 team. He should also not play David Luiz as a defender, at chelsea clearly his best position is in mid-field.

Fernandinho has said this a thousand times before and the only real reason both him and Willian are overlooked for Brazil is because of the league they previously played in, or still play in, in the case of Willian.

Well surely Fernandinho's & Shaktar's (spell check) performances in the C-League should have changed people's mind about that.

Should have, but it hasn't for some reason... guys who play in the Portuguese League get far more recognition and they deserve it, but the Brazilians at Shakhtar need some lovin' too. :p

It was interesting reading the first post in this thread by War, stating Brazil were looking for some sort of glory, a win in a tournament, the Olympics didn't provide it but the recent Confederation's Cup win, against a strong and highly skilled Spanish side was just exhilarating.

Paulinho is fast becoming a great midfielder, their defense is strong and Neymar is maturing. Of course there is talk of his move to Barca, will it help? Will he get enough playtime considering Messi is the jewel in the crown? Will his football be affected in a much competitive environment, positive or negative?

Looking at Brazil in 2013 and headed towards 2014, they have all the tools a team needs to win, but can they fit together and it all hinges on how Paulinho and Neymar progress form here on in.

It doesn't look like there's a place to laugh about Brazil's thrashing of Australia, so here looks as good a place as any. :lol

Brazil vs Zambia

Just observing Brazil 4-1-4-1 formation that was played in the recent international break & I reckon big Phil could have stumbled on the perfect formation to accommodate Brazil's strengths here.

Paulinho/Ramirez are engines in the middle. Instead of playing Lucas in front of the back for, i'd say play Luiz there as the "registra" and let Dante play alongside Thiago Silva in the back. Then of course the pace & trickery of Neymar & Lucas/Oscar/Hulk on the flanks is pretty lethal & their crossing into the box would possibly be even more useful if Diego Costa decides to not play for Spain.

Confedera??o Brasileira de Futebol

Robinho gets a recall, admittedly he has been looking sort of decent @ Milan in recent weeks.

Outside of Fred & Lucas, you would have to say this is best Brazil squad.
